Hey there!

Just letting you know we have a new podcast episode up.

From Changping to Shuangjing and back again, these bus adventures will be posted to YouTube.

We're working on citations and referencing in class, something I have no idea of how to gamify or make any more fun (send recommendations if you have!) Punctuation, abbreviations, volume numbers and italics... Ouch. My admiration continues: they’re doing this in a second language.

BUT, I had to stop class and tell the students to ENJOY their boredom! Why? Because it goes by so fast!

The glazed-over look on their faces as I pointed to yet another example of an alphabetical reference list and its connection with in-text citations stopped me because I couldn't but think: yea, you gotta enjoy this boredom cause soon it will not only be second nature, but the essays and assignments get even more difficult and complicated from here on in.

I didn't bother telling them that even professionals make mistakes and published books are RIFE with errors, misquotes, and reference problems, but they can find that out later.

Anyway, I explain a little more in this week's podcast.

Finally, how easy would it be to create an APP?

Apparently not so easy.

Good for personal use, but not for production scale. Who’s going to maintain it? What about security? And is there something that can do it better for cheaper, even including time spent?

Listen on Libsyn, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube

Enjoy,

Steve
