Ending the year strong...
Well, 2020 has been a year for the history books, hasn't it? And it is easy to want to kiss it goodbye for good.
But I don't really like looking at things that way for very long. The past couple months, I have really tried to make the most of this crazy year, and look for the good. There were a lot of things that I wanted to happen that didn't come to pass. There were a lot of dark things, a lot of isolation, a lot of fear and loss. There is no doubt about that.
But there have been some unexpected blessings as well. A lot of time with my wife and our baby boy. Time to focus more on writing. And more time than usual for contemplation and a few simple joys.
I hope that whatever this year has brought you, that you are able to find some good in the midst of these hard times. Even if it is as simple as a really good story.
Perhaps it's because they came out in December originally. But this time of year, I always get in the mood to rewatch LOTR. Always the Extended Editions!
And the simplicity and beauty of the Shire really got me this time around. But in 2020, I think my favorite moment would have to be this one:
- How about you? What stories are hitting the spot for you right now? Let me know by replying to this email. I would love to hear from you!
At any rate, there are a couple more weeks left in the year, and I have writing to do.
The Well of Shadows is 95% complete. I am days away from finishing.
Reaching the end has been a bit of a ride. Some days, I find myself pushing hard to reach the end, and other days, I move slower, already sad that these are some of the final scenes I will spend with these characters that have dominated so much of my thoughts the past few years.
Only a few more chapters left...
In other news, the cover is complete. And you all will get a peak at it very soon! It looks incredible and I am so excited for you to see it.
Now, for some book deals...
Don't miss these reads this month...
And here are some free stories worth checking out...
The next time you hear from me, I will be finished with the Shadow Watch series. I'll see you on the other side!
