I hope this email finds you well :)
We’ve been spending a lot of time at the beach at the moment, enjoying the weather in the late afternoons before the ocean becomes so hot it feels like you’re in a jacuzzi!
Our puppy is doing really well, and she’s learnt to sit and walk on the lead in the garden (although toilet training is taking a little longer!). We haven’t taken her for a proper walk yet, because parvo virus is a big problem in Dubai. So we’re waiting to make sure she has full immunity from her vaccines. She’s really cute and just flops down asleep after a session of playing.
In writing news, Misty and I just finished writing the last book in our Aftermath series. We wrote more than 650,000 words between us in about ten months. It felt like running a marathon, but it’s not completely over yet. We still have feedback from our editor and beta readers to incorporate, but it’s fair to say that the finish line is in sight!
We also dusted off our flu pandemic series that we started planning and writing in 2019, and which we set aside to write Aftermath. We are planning a 3 book series to start, with books one and two already written. It was fun to pull out the old manuscripts and reread them in preparation for finishing book three. It’s been so long since we worked on them, that we actually managed to surprise ourselves with some of the plot twists!
How do you feel about reading a pandemic-themed apocalypse book after covid? We really wish we’d managed to get them published before 2020! It’s been a bit eerie to reread our previous work after everything that’s happened since then.
