Hi friends,
I hope you’re well!
While many of us now keep a stock of food and water in our pantry or basement in case of an emergency, what about a smaller kit that you can take with you in an emergency with enough basic supplies to last you a few days. This kit should ideally be in a convenient spot in a grab and go case, because you never know when you might need to leave in a hurry. You might have heard this called a “go bag”.
Do you have your disaster preparedness kit ready? If so, I’d love to hear what you include in your kit. Obviously, food and water for a few days and first aid supplies are essential items. But what other items do you include? How about a hand crank radio or paper copies of local maps? A change of clothes? Let me know your ideas.
Once you’ve got your items together, it’s worth thinking about where you’ll keep it and how many kits you’ll need. For example, if you work out of the home, having a go bag in your workplace is a good idea. If you like to wear high heels or dress shoes, keeping an old pair of comfortable walking shoes with your bag is probably smart.
Storing another go bag in your vehicle is usually recommended, because you never know when you might get stranded in your car. But you can also include car-specific items with this disaster preparedness kit. Jumper cables, a no-spill gas can, and a small tool kit are some items you might include.
Let me know if I missed anything important 😊
