Hi ,

Today January finishes.

The month of new plans, objectives, forecasts...

And then...forecasts...

And again...forecasts...

How do CEOs believe global economic growth will change, if at all, over the next 12 months?

The seesaw of forecasts

As you can see, CEOs are extremely pessimistic about global economic growth for the year ahead, in a dramatic shift from last year’s optimistic outlook.

The drop-off in CEO confidence levels for their own organization’s prospects between last year and this year (about 25%) was significantly smaller than the plunge in 2009 (when it fell more than 50%) but larger than in any other of the past 15 years.

The response to near-term economic challenges

In the current environment, CEOs report cutting costs and spurring revenue growth—but most don’t plan to reduce workforce or delay deals.

If, as many CEOs anticipate, the war for talent remains fierce, even amid deteriorating economic conditions, keeping workers happy and engaged will be a mission-critical priority.

Creating conditions for progress against forces like these can help us influence future churn rates.

So what does the future hold?

PS: See you next Tuesday
