We are celebrating the Anniversary of the liberation of Italy 🇮🇹

Trust is one of the most important ingredients for any relationship. It is more important than performance.

In this video, Simon Sinek explains what are the people that companies and teams need.

The balance between trust and performance

In the business world, performance is measured by various metrics, but trustworthiness is not typically measured by a single metric. This leads to a situation where managers tend to prioritize performance over trust.

Sinek argues that trust is the foundation of any successful organization, and without it, performance will eventually falter.

Sinek recommends:

• organizations should focus on building trust by prioritizing open communication, honesty, and vulnerability
• leaders should lead by example and be transparent with their team members
• the importance of treating team members as people, not just as resources, and ensuring that they feel valued and supported

Simon talks about working with Navy Seals. 

Navy Seals are probably the highest-performing teams on the planet. 

In his work with Seals, he asked the best team: “How do you choose the guys that make it?”

The Seals drew the following graph:

Nobody wanted someone from the lower left: Low Performer and Low Trust.

Everyone wanted someone from the upper right: A high Performer and High Trust.

When Simon asked them which type of person they want as a leader or teammate, they all said they would prefer someone on the right side of the chart to the best performer who had low trust.
