How do you choose your crystal for the year?

By allowing a crystal to choose you!

How do you go about that then?

So many individual ways...

Among those of you reading this, there are many with much crystal experience already, who need no tips. But for anyone wondering, or if you just want to have a go, here's an exercise for you to connect with your crystalline intuition naturally:

• Choose a space where you have a table top, optionally a piece of cloth on which you'll soon arrange crystals, and a few good minutes of peace.
• Gather together a minimum of 13 crystals - or all that you own...!
• Out of all that you have collected in front of you, without any thinking or conscious choosing, just take 12 crystals and arrange them in a circle, placing one crystal at each clock position. So you'll end up with a circle of crystals: one on top at the 12 o'clock position, one at 6 o'clock position, one on the left at 9 o'clock, one on the right at 3 o'clock, and two crystals between each of these positions, marking the remaining clock positions.
• Now just sit and look at your circle of crystals, and if any of them seem like they need to swap places, do that now. Like, would the crystal at 12 o'clock be better at 6 o'clock? Would the crystals at 4 & 8 o'clock be better if they swapped places? I don't know - but you absolutely do. NOTICE how it feels to know. It's like when you arranged the furniture where you live. Why did a piece of furniture end up in the place where it did? It just felt right. Or maybe it was the only place where it fitted like that. Use that same effortless, natural knowing when arranging the crystals in your circle now. You may even be happy with the original positions, who knows? (You do!) Just make sure that once you've done this bit, you're happy with how the crystals settle in your circle.
• Your circle will now receive a centre crystal. If you originally gathered 13 crystals, use the last remaining one that isn't included in the twelve clock positions. If you gathered more, pick one of those and place it in the centre of your crystal circle.
• Take another look and connect with this circle anew now that is has a centre crystal as well. Test this, just for the sake of feeling into your intuition: swap the centre crystal with the crystal at 3 o'clock. How does that change the feel of it all? You don't need to find words for the change, simply note it. Test with a few more clock positions, bringing one to the centre and placing the centre crystal at the clock position. Are you having almost a physical sensation now, reacting to how it feels when the crystals change position? You now know where each one is to settle... You know which crystal needs to be in the centre. Trust that knowing.
• Sit with your crystal circle for a while, noticing what you notice about all of this. If you can't leave your circle in place for too long, take a photo of it.
