In the series Wura, the plot of the love affair between Dimeji & Tumi is an interesting one for me because it teaches the lessons of love that are far from fiction. This plot is about fighting for love. It is about what love should be.
Dimeji has always loved Tumi, although he spent so much time in the brother zone because he could not say his mind. He made a very good decision to cut himself away from that zone and come up with his confession.
One thing led to another that reveals that he truly loves Tumi, their love blossomed, and as it usually is, Dimeji is going to suffer for it more.
Mide (Tumi’s brother) did not like that relationship. He felt Dimeji is broke and cannot offer Tumi anything of value despite him being broke & jobless too. That is when the twist gets very interesting. Tumi fought for him; she fought to be with him even against her brother, Mide.
Mide did all he could to separate them, but he could not, so he had to let them be. After they thought the storms were over, Jeje showed up in the picture. He has always loved Tumi and Dimeji knew about it.
This brought another fight for Dimeji. Can he fight Jeje? Absolutely not! Jeje is rich, handsome, and powerful. Had all the things Dimeji does not have, except of course, Tumi’s love, but he is crafty and knows how to get what he wants. However, when it was necessary, Tumi proved that she was a real woman by standing by Dimaji against all odds.
Jeje did everything possible to separate them, but it was not working. Even when he had Dimeji locked up in the cell for impregnating Bisola & rejecting the baby, with the hope that it will make Tumi leave him, he failed. Tumi stood by him and even slept in the police station when they wouldn’t release him.
Tumi showed her class as a Queen; she followed her heart to be with Dimeji, and she needed no one’s permission to do so. She made the move for their first love-making too. To imagine that it took place in her parent’s house and on the floor is a lesson for a lot of men in Nigeria because it reveals what it means when a woman is in love.
And about the marriage proposal? That was one of the most perfect plots in the series. After the love-making, they were talking, and while still on the floor, seated side by side and in each other’s arms, Dimeji asked Tumi to marry him.
No ring, no group of imbeciles shouting “Say yes,” he did not even kneel like some grown-up imbeciles do, yet, Tumi agreed to marry him. This shows that when two people love each other, unnecessary dramas are out of the question.
If a man must organize a proposal party and kneel to propose marriage to a woman that he has been in a relationship with for a while, it shows that he is not sure she loves him and needs to blackmail her into marrying him. Such is unnecessary for a relationship in which love flows from both ends.
The lessons to pick from the plot are as follows:
1. Love cannot be bought – Jeje’s money and gifts could not buy Tumi’s love for Dimeji. Men need to understand this. If there is any woman whose love you can buy, then she is not worth having because you cannot keep her. Someone who has what you do not have will soon buy her from you.
2. Fighting for love must be both ways for the love to survive. Do not fight to be with a woman that fights to be with another man and vice versa. The fight for Tumi was productive in the end because it is mutual. Tumi fought for him as much as he did for her. Do not chase, otherwise, you will chase for the rest of your life.
3. Sex only becomes an issue when a woman does not love a man. A woman that loves a man does not care where, when, and how sex is done between her and her man. What matters to a woman in love is to be with her man, and it makes every other thing, including money come second. Tumi proved it by taking Dimeji to her parent’s house to make love to her there.
4. Do not receive relationship support from someone that once wants your partner. This is what caused Dimeji to lose his one and only Tumi. He knew that Jeje wants Tumi, but did not pay attention to it. Not only that, he received relationship support from him and that was what made him lose her.
Do not just watch movies, pick some lessons. A word, they say, is enough for the wise. This is more than a word.
