(Overcoming the struggle to always make sense)
If you live your life trying to make sense to people all the time, you are most likely to end up not making a single sense with your life – Soul’e Rhymez
Last night I met one of my former neighbors that always told me to go and get married. He said that if I am not married by 2020 if I greet him, he will not answer me. I told him not to worry, that he will soon come and eat rice. I smiled and walked away.
Perhaps such persons are not entirely strange to you; to them no matter what you have achieved, as long as you are not married, you are a complete idiot and not serious with your life. I sympathize with such people’s ignorance, but I will never subscribe to it or let it define me.
While marriage is the ultimate of a successful life to them, it is just a compliment to me. It is to me, not what it means to have a successful life. I can lead a very successful life without ever getting married or having kids.
While I can stand out and define my success, all around me, I see people who shrink themselves into mediocrity and lifelong poverty, because they never really define their success. They exist by other people’s faulty definition of a successful life.
There a lot of people with different, but wrong definitions of success with which they measure themselves and others; it is no surprise therefore that these people are doomed to mediocrity and poverty.
To some, successful life means so much money in your bank account and how extravagant you are, to some, it is building big houses everywhere, to some, it is buying exotic cars, to some, it is in how expensive the clothes you wear are, to some, it is in how early you get married and how many kids you have. However, none of these makes a successful life, they can only complement and expand t.
What then does it mean to have a successful life?
Will you like to know?
