As we advance into 2023, one of the first things I want you to know about me is that I never said school is a scam. I cannot be quoted anywhere saying it. I did not add it to any of my writings. So, how did people come about it?
I am a product of school & highly educated person, so it is impossible for me to say school is a scam. Saying that will make a mess of the years that I spent in school. Even in my popular article titled WHEN EDUCATION BECOMES INDOCTRINATION published by The Guardian Newspaper, I only called for a reform of the school system, there was no place where I mentioned that school is a scam.
I did not leave the university because it was a scam; I left because it did not have the type of education I wanted. However, the decision put a lot of people against me. They did not understand why a school as big as UNILAG did not have the type of education I wanted.
To them, it was disrespectful to the school and those that hold the certificates to say that I could not find the type of education I wanted there, but I was too educated to spend four years studying a course that has no connection with my chosen career just to be called an educated person.
My decision to leave UNILAG when I realized that it does not have the kind of education I wanted was proof that I was superiorly educated before I gained admission into the school. My decision proved that school was not a scam if I choose to credit the school system with it.
With the decision, I proved that I would not accept whatever I am offered just to be called an educated person; I went for what I wanted against all odds, even when it put everyone, including my family members against me.
My decision proves that I was a highly educated person before gaining admission into the school. It is a vital part of education to make people know what they want & follow through against all odds without abusing the right of others, which was what I did.
If people insist that I am uneducated simply because I opted out of UNILAG, they would have proved that school is a scam. If 12 years of my life in school can be easily written off except I add another 4 years in the University, then school is actually a scam.
Spending 12 years in school is enough to educate anyone & my decision proved it. If a person that spends 12 years in school can be considered uneducated, it is either that something is wrong with the system of education or people do not know what it means to be educated.
Now, let us get it straight before it goes on any further!
Tertiary institutions, such as polytechnics, Colleges of Education & the University are for career development, not basic education. This suggests that before you can be admitted into these institutions, you must be educated!
If a person that cannot communicate in English language effectively before gaining admission into a tertiary institution, he will graduate without any improvement on it & that will not be the fault of the tertiary institution. It is not the duty of a tertiary institution to teach students how to speak English, but to help them build a career with English language.
Only the people who do not know the purpose of education & tertiary institutions believe that a person is uneducated for dropping out of a tertiary institution or refusing to go at all. A person is educated, knows what is good for him, and follows it against all odds without abusing the right of others. Soul’e Rhymez unquestionably belongs to the group.
Whenever you think about uneducated people, stop thinking about those who dropped out of a tertiary institution or did not go at all. Instead think about those who do not know what they want, or know what they want but lacks the will to follow it through without abusing the right of others regardless of their degrees & certificates.
I am Soul’e Rhymez & I am, no doubt, one of the most educated Nigerians. If you want proof of my education that could not be found in UNILAG, read my book titled
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
