No matter how godly a religious man may appear to be, he thinks and believes that his wife is inferior to him and must submit to his authority without question. This is a sentiment that all religious men share, and it may help you to understand why Apostle Paul commanded wives to “submit” to their husbands in all things, while the husbands are admonished to love in return.
Many men extend their desire to control women beyond their wives; they see it as their right to control all the women. They believe that women are properties for the use of men, and nothing more. With that mindset, they believe that they are superior to every woman whether they are married to her or not. Such men like to control women’s dressing instead of their minds.
The foregoing explanation may help you to understand why many religions placed a lot of restrictions on women, but never on men. In a certain religion, women are not allowed to work and earn money by themselves, wear clothes that reveal their faces or a part of the body or even talk in public.
All these restrictions have nothing to do with God; they are just strategies for men to maintain their control over women. For instance, a woman that works and makes her money is financially free from a man and will not have to wait on him to earn a living. This takes the control of her life away from that man.
A woman that wears the cloth that reveals her beauty will attract different men, which will take the control of her life away from a certain man who may always make her feel like she is not beautiful enough and also places the man that is lucky to have her on his toes because he may lose her to another man if he refuses to treat her well.
In this religion, women have to be covered from head to toes with no parts of their body shapes revealed. This, they say is done to avoid seduction, but it is far from it. It is not about God either; it is about men trying to control women. This is a part of human nature that is not limited to gender. All these go to prove that human beings’ greatest desire is to be able to control other human beings.
