FriYAY is my birthday! 🥳 And this year, as I do every year, I’m celebrating with a cause close to my heart — my annual birthday fundraiser for Crisis Text Line.
Many of you know me through our Walk to End Lupus Now team and Lupus Awareness Month activities in the spring. Those efforts will always be part of my heart and our Social Butterflies mission. But in the second half of the year — and especially for my birthday — I turn my focus to Crisis Text Line. It’s my way of supporting mental health and emotional well-being, causes that matter deeply to me, alongside lupus awareness.
Since 2021, I’ve volunteered as a Crisis Text Line counselor, walking with people through some of their hardest moments. The training taught me how to hold space for others, help them rediscover hope, and it’s even strengthened my own relationships. This work is part of who I am.
What makes Crisis Text Line so special is how much they care — not just for the people reaching out, but for their volunteers, staff, and the health of the organization. Empathy isn’t just something they talk about; it’s the culture they live every day.
💬 Since 2013, Crisis Text Line has had over 10 million conversations with people in crisis — each one a lifeline.
My goal: Raise $500 by August 15. If just 17 friends join me and give $28, we’ll reach it together. Every gift helps someone find the strength to make it through one more day.
