To find peace in a world gone mad
The madness
I don't read the news, but the noise seeps through - via friends, neighbors and social media feeds. It seems as if the world is on fire.
And yet, when I assess the situation with my intuition, it tells me that these are fabricated situations and blown-up crises, an illusion fed to the public with such an alarming urgency it makes our stress levels rise and our mind panic. Catastrophic news, causing an inflamed mind - heat, pressure and irritation.
Can we do anything about the stuff happening "out there"? If not, then why would we keep on feeding ourselves stress, poisoning the mind?
I was raised up in a home where the morning paper and the evening news were routine, a kind of necessity in order "to be informed". But what if 'being informed' actually is tampering with your perception and your well-being?
Stress
Stress narrows down our perception, makes our breath more shallow, puts our body in the infamous fight-or-flight mode which is great for battling or fleeing, but not so beneficial for our health on the long term.
To add insult to injury, a stressed (tired, distracted) mind will pull up all kinds of narratives from our subconscious. The warnings of our parents, a bad experience, our internalised criticism, and thoroughly mix the external noise with the inner murmur. Now we've got an emulsified concoction, nearly impossible to break into bits in order to analyse.
As someone who doesn't cope well with stress at all, I need to actively steer myself to calmness whenever stress levels rise. And I think I'm not the only one raising their hand if asked "who's been stressed out lately?". These are some strange, intense times.
But wait, there is more - and stick with me, there's a cure-all coming up.
Divide and conquer?
Division. Polarisation. Increasingly easily offended.
We are being fed the stuff we're interested in on social media and in our internet search. Our perception once again becomes influenced, this time by the algorithm that serves us our favourite flavours. And echo chamber bubble, making the gap between "us" and "them" widen with every post we see.
When we understand that we all have been influenced by our parents, school and the culture we grew up in, and really see through the deception, we understand that everyone else has been influenced as well, opening the doors to accepting 'the other'. Acceptance and curiosity instead of division.
The cure
The world can wait. Turn your devices off or on silent mode. You can come back to check on them later.
Just being. Feeling my body relax. Oftentimes I just need to rest.
What is your Happy Place? Mine is in nature. I find it in my garden, but also on a hike, or sitting at the edge of a body of water, watching light playing on the surface. Watching clouds. Or animals, doing their thing. I love to see the beauty in a dewdrop, the colours of the landscape, the outrageously gorgeous plumage of a bird. I just open my eyes and feast on what I see - simple, instant, free and pure joy.
As I become more quiet - in my pace and in my mind - I start to pick up on the more subtle voice of my intuition.
Intuition
Intuition - unlike the mind - is always in the present moment. It is neutral in its Truth. Accurate and full of surprises in its advising. Has a brilliant timing. Facilitates Magick.
Intuition is the ultimate tool to navigate these stormy waters.
The solution
The solution - and the challenge - is to become fully, totally and unapologetically your self. When we choose to life the authentic life, and have experienced what it takes to get there, we automatically can accept the differing viewpoints of others.
We're all different, and creative in totally different ways - that is the true richness of the human-kind.
When we become our unapologetic selves and strut around in our metaphoric plumage (outrageous and all), being at the same time painfully aware of our shortcomings and accepting them, doing our best in the moment anyway, striving for betterment in a gentle-to-the-soul way... AND we've slowed the f*ck down to a heartbeat rhythm of living, expanded our being, resting in the moment... AND we hear/see with intuition what the energy field holds...
...Peace lands in our lives like the symbolic white dove. Softly, gently and very real. All pretend and make-believe have evaporated before the fierce gaze of Truth, hurt and all. The harder the battle, the sweeter the victory.
Welcome to Paradise. It was here already, always, waiting for us to be.
