Hi ,
Welcome back to Refuel 🔥 your weekly space to pause, reset, and reconnect with your body, your energy, and what matters most.
Because running on empty was never the plan.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate this weather? ☀️
The sunshine has certainly made an appearance lately, and whilst I’m absolutely loving teaching in brighter mornings and lighter evenings, it’s also a timely reminder that our bodies need slightly different support when temperatures rise.
More on that shortly…
First, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Pilates After Dark this week.
What a beautiful evening.
There is something incredibly special about moving slowly, breathing deeply, and giving yourself permission to switch off for an hour or two. The feedback has been wonderful, and I’m already looking forward to the next one.
🌿 THIS WEEK’S FOCUS: SMALL THINGS DONE CONSISTENTLY
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned after more than 25 years in health and wellness is this:
The things that make the biggest difference are often the simplest.
- Drinking enough water.
- Taking a walk.
- Stretching for five minutes.
- Going to bed a little earlier.
- Showing up to class.
Not because they’re glamorous.
But because they work.
Consistency will always beat intensity when it comes to long-term health.
💬 QUESTION OF THE WEEK
“Do I really need electrolytes, or is water enough?”
Great question, especially with the warmer weather.
Water is essential, but when we sweat more through exercise, hot weather, gardening, walking, or simply being outside, we also lose minerals including:
• Sodium
• Potassium
• Magnesium
These electrolytes help support:
✅ Hydration
✅ Muscle function
✅ Energy production
✅ Nerve signalling
✅ Recovery
If you’re active, spending time in the sun, or noticing headaches, fatigue, muscle cramps or feeling a little sluggish, it may be worth considering electrolyte support alongside your water intake.
Simple options include:
• Adding a pinch of good-quality salt to water
• Coconut water
• Electrolyte supplements
• Mineral-rich foods
The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s helping your body stay supported.
☀️ TOP TIPS FOR KEEPING COOL IN THE SUN
Enjoy the sunshine, but be kind to your body too.
My top recommendations:
🌿 Start hydrating early rather than playing catch-up later
🌿 Wear light, breathable clothing
🌿 Get outside in the morning or later afternoon where possible
🌿 Prioritise shade during peak midday heat
🌿 Eat water-rich foods like cucumber, berries, melon and salads
🌿 Keep moving—but listen to your energy levels
Your body will thank you for it.
⚡ MINI WELLNESS BOOST (2 MINUTES)
The Cooling Breath Reset
If you’re feeling hot, frazzled, or overwhelmed:
• Sit comfortably
• Place one hand on your chest
• Inhale gently through your nose
• Exhale slowly through your mouth as if cooling a spoonful of soup
• Repeat for 5 slow breaths
Simple.
Effective.
A lovely nervous system reset when life feels busy.

📖 FROM THE BLOG
There’s been some lovely engagement with the blog recently, particularly around the wider benefits of Pilates beyond simply exercise.
One article that’s proving particularly popular is:
30 Ways Pilates Benefits Your Body and Mind
From posture and strength to confidence, sleep, balance, mobility and nervous system regulation, the list is far longer than most people realise.
It’s a great read if you’ve ever wondered why Pilates feels so different from other forms of exercise.
You can also catch up on the latest articles covering strength, wellbeing, movement and healthy ageing.
💜 A NOTE FROM ME
As we move towards summer, I want to encourage you not to fall into the trap of thinking health needs a complete overhaul.
You don’t need a detox.
You don’t need to punish yourself.
You don’t need to “start again.”
You simply need to keep showing up for yourself in small, sustainable ways.
Because wellness isn’t built in dramatic moments.
It’s built in daily choices.
And those choices matter.
Tip of the Week:
Before reaching for another coffee this week, ask yourself:
“Have I actually had enough water today?”
You might be surprised how often the answer is no.
Love + wellness,
