Everything I Needed to Know

Good morning, Boys and Girls. Before we get to today's lessons, outdoor recess, and snack time, we have a special birthday to celebrate today. Today would be Friedrich Fröbel's 243rd birthday. That's why today is known as Kindergarten Day.

Now, before everyone asks, "Who is Friedrich Fröbel?", I'll tell you. Fröbel created the concept of the kindergarten.

Do you remember your kindergarten teacher? Do you remember where you went to kindergarten? Do you remember your best friend from kindergarten?

More importantly, do you remember all those things you learned in kindergarten?

  • Be nice.
  • Play fair.
  • Keep your hands to yourself.
  • Clean up after yourself.
  • Share.
  • "Please" and "Thank you." (Magic words then; still magic today)
  • Color, paint, sing, dance, and build stuff with blocks.
  • Watch for traffic.
  • Stick together.
  • If ever given the chance to nap, take it.

All these ideas, concepts, and lessons were important then. They still are important today.

Now that I think about it, kindergarten was all about building relationships, solving problems, and having fun.

So this week, bring your best to Show and Tell - your kindness, your curiosity, and your creativity. Because the more of those you share with the world, the more you’ll find coming back your way.
