Can you guess which book is getting a new cover? 🙋‍♀️

Hi !

Last weekend, I went on a little getaway with my family to the Oregon Coast. I stayed in a loft that overlooked a cute little beach neighborhood, took long walks by the ocean, and ate too many steamed clams. I took my laptop but didn’t write at all (maybe because I took five books to read for three days of vacation 😂). I left a little disappointed that the time there had been so “unproductive.”

But then I came home and found myself overflowing with creativity in a way that I haven’t experienced in a long time. I wrote more this week than in the rest of the month put together. It seems obvious in retrospect, but sometimes NOT working helps get more work done. I share this with the hope that it helps someone else stuck in the grind to take a deep breath and reset.

All that said, my imagination has spent all its time this week on stories I’m not supposed to be writing. Books with one chapter written. Outlines that have been sitting on my hard drive, collecting dust for a year (or more)! New shiny ideas that are totally outside my wheelhouse...

It was kind of like when you go to deep clean your kitchen and end up reorganizing the junk drawer. Productive but also counterproductive. The junk drawer has been junky for years; it can stay that way a little longer. But the kitchen needs cleaning! 😅

Let’s hope the muses are more focused next week… Either that, or you might have to brace yourself for some really random books, LOL!

BIG COVER NEWS

The Salt Planet Giants books are finally getting illustrated covers! While I adore the original covers, they don't show off just how HUGE the giants really are compared to their human mates, so it was time for a change.

The new cover for The Mountain’s Mate will be revealed next month, and let me tell you, I am SQUEALING over the art by Phantom Dame. Swoony size-difference ahoy.

If you love the original cover (I know I do), this is the time to buy it in paperback before it's gone. I also have signed copies in my Etsy shop right now!

A full cover reveal is coming next month! My patrons will get an early glimpse of it very soon. And speaking of Patreon...

PATREON FUN

We’ve been having a blast over on my Patreon with the Letters from a Monster project. If you would love to receive monthly mail from your monster match, now is a great time to sign up! We’re all dating “our” dragon boyfriend, Khael, a single dad who coaches a professional beastball team and cooks amazing gluten-free recipes in his spare time.

You can catch up quickly on the story in the Digital Tier (and see all the art and hear his voicemails from previous months). Receive a real-mail monthly letter, art print, and other goodies in the Mail Tier. And the Gift Tier (where you get a quarterly gift from your dragon boyfriend in addition to the monthly mail) is now open for a limited time. (Sign up by July 10 to be eligible for July Mail and the September Gift.)

🌶️ Let me tell you, this quarter is a spicy one! 🌶️July, August, and September are all about turning up the heat on the relationship! A few hints about what’s in store in the art department:

JULY – Naughty art by Rouge Fox that she officially dubbed “Happy Trails”

AUGUST – Gorgeous art by Taylae Draws with the most beautiful sunset sky background

SEPTEMBER – Searing NSFW art by Duart (can someone say “tail stuff”?)

Lots of other fun surprises are coming, too. Patrons also get sneak peeks for cover reveals like I mentioned above, free early copies of my new releases, and (of course) my undying gratitude.

NEW FROM OTHER AUTHORS

I’m thrilled to share two spectacular new releases from my author friends. Both books are the first in new series! Coincidentally, they also both have amazing illustrated covers, so I’m going to take the opportunity to mention that I never use AI art or promote other authors who use AI art.

Real art is made by actual humans who bring their heart and soul to every piece. I’m very proud to support human artists, even if it cuts into my bottom line, and all the authors I share with you feel the same way!

Claimed by the Krijese by Erin Hale

All I’ve ever wanted is for people to see me. It’s not until I leave Earth for an alien planet and meet a little boy who belongs to a local tribe that I am.

Then I meet Sorin’s father. After hearing how their species murdered humans, he terrifies me. The more I’m around them, though, the more I realize my fears are unfounded.

When Kala offers me a mating of convenience and what may be my only chance at becoming a mother, I accept. Before long, it’s not just the child I want, but also his father. Now I have to convince him love is worth any risk.

Amid the Clouds by Marian Pattechat

Having survived three apocalypses, I knew how to stay alive in a world overrun by nightmarish monsters. Going on a supply run to my infested workplace should have been simple: get in and get out.

Little did I know that what awaited me in that creepy building was an overbearing gargoyle who would fly me off to an unknown destination.

Now I’m in a place beyond my wildest imagination, and going back home may prove more difficult than expected…. especially when I’m being seduced into staying!

Hope you have a great weekend to rest and recharge!
