Hey there, Word Lovers,

Another month has flashed by, and along with it came the book birthday of this book! From initially writing the first book in the Darkening Dragon series back in 2011, it took thirteen years for me to wrap everything up, and a lot of my heart and love of travel is interwoven in these books. Bohemian Dragon Awakening also happens to take place in the region where I currently live in the Czech Republic, which makes it extra special.

And I realized I'd accidentally forgotten to ever put BDA and Dawn of the Darkening into KU, but that has been rectified, so if you have a KU account you can read everything but the first book (The Darkening Dragons) for free. I know that's sorta weird, but I recently got all the rights back for that book and have yet to go through and refresh it and get it back online. So it's sorta out of print currently, although I do have a few copies remaining if anyone is interested in getting the original before it gets an overhaul.

We had a lovely peach season here this summer, and I was inspired to try my hand at making peach scones. It was my first attempt making any kind of scones, but I was pleased with how they turned out (although I'm sure they can't compare to the ones Maple makes at The Screaming Peach Cafe!) If you don't know what all the fuss about peach scones is about, be sure to pick up a copy of One Must Die and Of Clockworks and Daggers so you can be in the know.

I was feeling like I didn't have a whole lot to say this month (especially since I was having trouble with my picture from the Mommy Writer's retreat that I attended online at the end of July), but we went to a castle yesterday, and it was really pretty, so I'll share a few pictures of that to feed your desire to travel the world. Yes, it's not so secretly my goal to convince everyone to visit the Czech Republic. Please excuse the gray streak in my hair. Aging is just one of the inescapable hazards of living, and while I promise myself endlessly that I'll stay young, it's harder done than said.

Historical note, Gutstejn castle was built at the end of the 13th-beginning of the 14th century. It belonged to one family and was in use for about 250 years. It's actually a decently intact ruin, and so much fun to wander through. Be sure to check out the other photos and videos I shared on my Instagram account: @transientdrifter

This month it worked out perfectly that I'm scheduled to introduce my dear friend and co-author on One Must Die, Candice Pedraza Yamnitz, because she and Claire Kohler just revealed the cover of the next book in the Games of Greed and Ruin, Of Masquerades and Fame.
