The newsletter is a bit late this month; I hope I may beg everyone's pardon. The last few weeks have been a time of loss and reflection both within my family, and within the wider writing community. My family recently lost my brother-in-law. Meanwhile, Dawn Hosmer has left a gaping hole where the writing community's collective heart used to be.
If you'd like to help support Dawn's family during this difficult time, please donate to their GoFundMe. If you haven't read any of Dawn's work, all of her books are available on Amazon.
If this section came off awkward and stiff, well, sometimes the right words are just hard to find. It seems weird to follow that all up with discussing my writing news, but I shall endeavor to do so.
Wrist Update
Some of you may recall an incident last year where my right wrist was practically unusable for a week or so. The past few weeks have seen something of a flare-up in both wrists, although it was only the right that needed to spend some time in a brace. I will be trying to schedule an appointment with the appropriate kind of specialist and will update y'all when I have a diagnosis. Carpel tunnel seems likely, but I'm no doctor.
Finding the Dragon Progress Update
After much careful consideration, I will be postponing Finding the Dragon. I don't have a new release date for it, but newsletter subscribers will be the first to know when I do. The current draft will be going on the shelf to rest for a little bit while I finish Cursed Magic and (hopefully) release that on time.
On a lighter note...
Before my wrist decided I'm not allowed to have fun, I had recently taken up spinning. I find it delightfully relaxing and can't wait to make some yarn I can actually do something with. My first attempts are a bit... inconsistent, haha. If you don't have any wrist problems and would like to try it out, I got this drop spindle for only $10 at my local fiber arts store. I also got one from Etsy for $7.
#WritingCommunity New Releases
A new reimagining of Sleeping Beauty from Chesney Infalt, author of
The Heart of the Sea.
I'm so excited for this one! Wingfall is a retelling of Thumbelina by K. Dezendorf, author of The Wayfinder's Apprentice.
I did not do any deal hunting or schedule any swaps for this month's newsletter, so instead of our usual Deals & Steals, here is a book I enjoyed recently.
The vampire run a funeral home and there are owls.
What more could you ask for?
