Update - Translation rights & free books

Hello to all my readers, and a warm welcome to any new subscribers. I hope this email finds you well.
It’s been a while since my last update, but exciting and unexpected things have happened: The Last Goodbye is going to be translated into Albanian!
I received an email from an Albanian publisher called Toena out of the blue expressing their interest in translating the book, and my first thought was that it was a scam. As an indie author I receive a lot of emails and social media messaging offering me all sorts of things – mostly marketing opportunities, the occasional promise to introduce my work to top Hollywood producers (for a fee, of course), and various permutations of fee-for-review services (which is against Amazon’s terms and conditions, so no thank you).
So I did some research, and it turns out Toena are a legitimate and long-standing Albanian publishing house, so that was wonderful news! I can’t quite believe my work is being translated into Albanian – fingers crossed it starts a trend. It’s a slow process that can take up to 18 months, but I’m really excited – it was absolutely the last thing I expected to happen.
I can’t wait to see the new edition with a new cover, and I’ll share it with you just as soon as I have it.

What I’m reading: Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula K. LeGuin. She’s a writer that I’ve known about ever since I can remember, but for some reason, I’ve just never got around to reading any of her books. So far I’m intrigued – although I suppose officially it counts as Science Fiction, it’s a compelling and character-driven exploration of how we understand each other, our similarities and our differences.
What I’m watching: Slow Horses Season 3. I love this show. I love the books it’s based on. Brilliant story telling, a compelling spy setting, wonderfully flawed characters that I’ve come to know and love. It simply couldn’t be any better.
