Hi
Hello again from Sydney, and welcome to any new subscribers wherever you are in the world. I hope you’re all well.
I’m fine – keeping busy juggling all the many tasks of working part time and being an author! I’m still working on the audio version of The Last Goodbye, which seems to be taking ages. I bought some great headphones and wore them when I was recording, but I didn’t realise until I’d completely finished and was on my second listen that I hadn’t heard a variety of slight external noises that had made their way into the recording – dog claws on the floorboards, distant aeroplanes, next door’s garage door. Sigh. Many of them I can edit out, but some sections just need to be completely rerecorded. I do love doing the audio editions but they are very time consuming. I hope you like them when they’re done!
On a more positive note, Another Time and Place is currently FREE for a limited time at most online stores in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. So if you haven’t read it yet, now is a good time to pick it up!

I’ve also started working on a new World War 2 novella, which is another dual timeline story, similar to The Last Goodbye. I’ve realised I really enjoy exploring the two narratives, working out how they interconnect, secrets becoming apparent as the story unfolds, and the characters in the present discovering the history of the past. Which do you prefer reading – straight historical fiction or dual timeline novels?
A while ago I asked for your thoughts on the ending of The Officer's Affair. The response was roughly even, so I've decided to leave it as it is. Thank you to everyone who replied.
As well as working on the historical fiction, I’ve also launched my new fantasy author pen name: S.G. Slade. The first book in the Darkness Rising series – Touch of a Witch – will be released on October 31st. First published several years ago as Shakespeare’s Witch, the book has been extensively edited and rewritten. If you’re interested in my fantasy books, please follow me on:

What I’m reading – Finding Eadie by Caroline Beacham
Another audio book find, this is a compelling and touching story of motherhood, publishing, and friendship in wartime London.
What I’m watching – Foundation
My son has been telling me I should read the book by Isaac Asimov for as long as I can remember. I still haven’t read it but the TV series is wonderful!
Here are the links to my books. Have you read them all?
Till next time - happy reading!
Kind regards
Samantha
