Season's Greetings - December Update
Dec 22, 2023 1:56 am
Hi
Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year wherever you are in the world! I hope 2023 has been a good year for you, and that you’re looking forward to whatever 2024 may bring. And welcome to any new subscribers.
2023 has been a busy year for me with lots of ups and downs, but it’s definitely coming to a close on an up, which is fabulous! For those of you who have been with me for a while, you’ll know that I’ve been waiting for the right job to come along after I was made redundant in the middle of the year. Well, I’m happy to say that I heard this morning that I have a great new job doing what I love, which is Quality Improvement in Healthcare. It’s a few more hours a week than I’d hoped for so I’ll just have to fit the writing around it but it’s in a convenient location (no more 2-hour commutes!) and I think it will be an interesting and rewarding role. I'll be starting in the new year.
Writing-wise, it’s been a good year too. I have now released the audio version of The Last Goodbye, and it’s available from most audiobook platforms, except for Audible, who are taking their own sweet time to make it available. Hopefully it should appear for sale there too in the next couple of weeks. Fingers crossed!

I’ve also just finished the second draft of my new World War 2 novella, so I hope to release that early next year. I’ll keep you posted.
And, I’ve started planning a new World War 2 series. It’s still in the very early stages, so I don’t want to jinx it by talking about it just yet, but I will keep you updated once I start actually working on it. It will be the first time I’ve ever planned a series out – mostly I write standalones, and then get the idea for a related book, or a sequel, so this is a new departure for me!
Anyway – I’m sure you’ve all got lots to do before the holidays, so I’ll wrap it up there, and wish you all the very best for the festive season. I hope you get lots of books and have plenty of time to read them!
What I’m Reading
The Salt Path by Raynor Winn. I don’t read a lot of memoirs, but the South West Coast Path is very close to where I grew up, so I really couldn’t resist. I’m so glad I did though, because I absolutely loved this book. It might be a cliche but The Salt Path really did make me laugh and make me cry. A wonderful, touching and inspiring story of taking a chance and beating the odds.
What I’m Watching
The English Game on Netflix. A surprisingly compelling drama set against the early days of Association Football.
Please do drop me a line if you have any comments or feedback - I'd love to hear from you.
Here are the links to my books. Have you read them all?
See you next year – until then, happy reading!
Kind regards
Samantha
