Happy September!
I haven’t been in touch for a while, as I’ve been taking a bit of a break from writing, but I’m back. Well, I’m still on a break, but I needed to share some important bookish news!
First, how has your summer/winter been going?
I just finished Bridgerton Season 3 and have a lot of thoughts about it... Have you watched it yet? Did you enjoy it?
Aside from watching shows and swimming at the beach, I’ve also been up to something else...
I’ve changed the back cover of Book 5 in the Shadows series! Yes, Taming His Wicked Duchess now has a new paperback cover.
If you haven’t bought the paperback yet, now is the perfect time. Take a look!
Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets Beauty and the Beast in this fiery enemies-to-lovers romance…
He’s married to a cold, opportunistic shrew.
Dane, the Duke of Kensington, is having a very bad night. Not only is the musicale he attended exceptionally dull, but the after-party is deadly. Attacked in the dark and nearly murdered, he is unexpectedly saved by the person he hates most in all the world: his wife.
She’s married to a monster.
What do you do when you find your husband bleeding in an abandoned building? Carry him home and tie him to the bed, of course.
And she’s ready to risk everything for her revenge.
Caroline, the Duchess of Kensington, isn't surprised to find her husband in suspicious circumstances. After all, she's already convinced he's a villain, involved in an evil plot of blackmail and slavery, not to mention responsible for her beloved uncle's death.
A love born from enmity and strife...more powerful than anything they've known.
Forced to call a truce, the duke and duchess must work together to untangle a perilous labyrinth of lies centering around the mysterious society The Shadows. As they spend time together, Caroline starts to fear that the man she married may not be the villain she believed him to be.
In the end, the monster in her bed may be the only man who can save her from something even worse than himself…
Here's a close-up look of the cover.
If you haven’t started the Shadows series yet, now is as good a time as ever! Book 9, the final book in the series, is available for pre-order. Cover reveal coming soon...
Finished reading all my books? Check out these new releases in The Rake Review series from my two favorite people! I read both books and loved them, so consider this my personal recommendation.
London’s most notorious rake needs to wed.
August Wade was never meant to be the Duke of Courtland. Now he’s inherited the title from his uncle along with the poorly managed ducal estates. After months of attempting to remedy the situation, August concludes that he must wed an heiress. Specifically, Miss Hazel Dartmont, only child of an obnoxiously wealthy textile merchant. Not only is Miss Dartmont wealthy, but she is several years on the shelf and far beneath him socially. She will be thrilledto draw the attention of a duke. Desperate, even.
Miss Hazel Dartmont is an expert at avoiding marriage.
Hazel only accepted the invitation to Lady Talbot’s house party to escape London and the attentions of an overly amorous gentleman. As a wealthy heiress, albeit one with a pedigree most of society turns their noses up at, Hazel is accustomed to being targeted by every desperate dandy in London. Now well past marriageable age, Hazel delights in her independence and has no intention of ever taking a husband.
Not even the rakish Duke of Courtland can change her mind.
When Hadrian Oakfield, the Earl of Whitby, is chosen as the rake of September, his world is turned upside down. His father, the Duke of Blackthorn, is so irate and embarrassed by the negative publicity that he demands that his oldest son and heir find a wife and settle down.
But when Hadrian sees his old childhood friend, Lady Lilliana Bennett, at the first ball he attends, he devises a plan he thinks will help them both. Lilliana is a wallflower whose family has fallen upon hard times. Hadrian proposes a marriage of convenience, allowing him to continue his rakish lifestyle in the city while she retires to his estate in the countryside, where she can garden and read to her heart’s desire. She has no choice but to accept, even though she has carried a torch for him as long as she can remember.
Unfortunately for Hadrian, his father has figured out his scheme and threatens to cut him off if he doesn’t produce an heir. Trapped together on Hadrian’s country estate, they struggle to rework the boundaries of their relationship. Can Lilliana find the courage to seduce September’s Scoundrel?
Have you read my installment from this series? Mad Duke March can be read any month of the year!
Whisky. Plenty of it. Keep it coming…
That’s all that Alexander Blackwood, the notorious “Mad Duke” of London, desires. Determined to waste his life away, he manages to offend even his closest friends. But when he carelessly ruins Miss Emily Fitzwilliam while in a drunken stupor, he finds himself chained to the only woman in England who refuses to fear or fawn over him.
It was the best day of her life… Until it wasn’t.
Emily Fitzwilliam loses everything when she is scandalously ruined by the most notorious rake London has ever known. And worst of all, the bounder refuses to marry her! But the wicked Duke who destroyed her life is about to discover that payback is hell.
A hasty marriage neither party wanted is about to become a passionate battle of wills as two warring hearts are destined to become one flesh… whether they like it or not.
Cheers,
Sadie
