Cherry Chatter: Cherry & apricot season has started - Orchard - Narrabri - Sydney this week
Nov 24, 2025 10:45 am
Cherry season is here! Together with the apricots these early season Merchant cherries are flying out the door as quickly as we can pick
Cherry and apricot sales
In the next few days you can get your fix of cherries and apricots at:
- The orchard afternoons - after 12 each day (once we're back from picking). Open tomorrow and then through the week until sold out.
- Narrabri - Craddock's Butchery have punnets in stock now.
- Lithgow - the gallery will have some punnets for the Gang Gang markets
- Sydney - Guy will be driving Mudgee - Katoomba - Penrith - Newtown on Wednesday afternoon so could meet somewhere along the M4 route for an apricot drop - limited space so please contact him on mudgeecherries@gmail.com
Merchant variety cherries - sweet, dark and juicy.
We have just a few rows of these early ripening variety of cherries. A small crew are working with me picking and packing each day. As there are just a few of these early cherries we are selling these in punnets at the moment. A few Earlise to pick next. No pick your own yet
Then we may need to have a little break from picking until the Rons are ripe next week.
Apricots are fantastic this year and it's so good to have them back after missing the crop last year - we've just finished picking the beautiful Magicot and massive Wondercot varieties. Next is the Lilycots which will then end off the apricots for us as we have only early season varieties (our strategy is to beat fruit fly by being early).
The special Twilight Market celebrating 20 years of Mudgee Farmers' markets was a huge hit. Thanks to everyone who persisted in the queue to get our fruit.
Pick Your Own
Bookings are open now for pick your own from Sunday the 7 December. We will add more dates as we see how the cherries ripen. When booking, please consider that cherries best picked in the cool of early morning - and it's much better for you too. All details are in the cherry picking online booking system here.
Not open this weekend.
Our weather has been so confusing for fruit ripening - swung from frosts last week to heatwave today! So far the cherries are handling it well.
Thanks for the support this week.
