Welcome back to Argren – a kick-ass epic fantasy series about witches and rebels who take on an evil oligarchy!

Welcome to all our new members who signed up as part of the book funnel promotion! As you know, Oss’stera, the latest book in the Spirit Song: Rebels Rising series, will be released on September 4th. The books are HERE! Nothing like that new book smell.

Several lucky newsletter members received a signed copy ahead of release for answering the burning question – which blurb for Oss’stera works best. And the winner is:

  • Join the rebellion in "Oss'stera", a must-read for fans of fantasy worlds with complex political systems and character-driven narratives.

Once again, for our most prolific readers, if you are a fan of “clean” romantasy, check out this free copy of Saved by Fae: a Forbidden Soulmate Romance

We are also participating in a few group releases – these are a great way to read excerpts from books in the fantasy genre you might not otherwise have found.

And one more space to find your next great read: https://shepherd.com/ an indie book platform built for readers by readers. The interface is pretty slick, and I have found books there that I wouldn’t have found any other way. Full disclosure we are founding author members, and have dedicated space for our books, but don’t let that stop you from exploring a super cool website.

When you finish a book you love, please give the author some love and leave a review. Not sure where to start? We have you covered.

What we’re reading

Our Firkins and Fantasy bookclub is reading A Darker Shade of Magic, a steampunk fantasy about alternative versions of London.

Ross is reading Joe Abercrombie’s new book The Devils. He loves the author’s writing skill. He also kind of hates him for it. Not going to lie – writing can be an complicated gig.

Why we love Milwaukee

Unlike some parts of the country, Milwaukee leaned in even harder to Pride this year. My favorite part was the County Supervisor’s float followed immediately by MKE Perverts in Solidarity. This is why Ross and I will eventually be writing books about Milwaukee, our adopted home. You cannot make this stuff up. (images of Deb, Dancing Grannies, a drag queen, the MPD with Pride flags and a man with wings and bubbles).
