Le'Hasa!
Welcome back to Argren – a kick-ass epic fantasy series about witches and rebels who take on an evil oligarchy!
We are excited to announce that Oss’stera, the next novel in the Spirit Song: Rebels Rising series, is available for pre-order through Black Rose Writing, Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Bookshop (if you request from your local bookstore). It will be out on Kindle once it’s published on the Zon September 4th. We still have a few spaces for Advanced Readers – if you are interested in receiving a manuscript and willing to write an honest review, feel free to contact us.
A big part of a book launch is marketing (ugh). Apparently writing wonderful books is not enough. We have a total of 2 nanoseconds to get a potential reader’s attention. So, dear readers, which one do you think works better?
- Join the rebellion in "Oss'stera", a must-read for fans of fantasy worlds with complex political systems and character-driven narratives.
- If you crave a narrative where political intrigue meets fantasy, join the rebellion in "Oss'stera", a gripping tale of resistance against an oppressive empire.
First one to answer gets a signed copy of Oss’stera when it’s published – email Deb at quizzicalllc@gmail.com to get your book.
To our most voracious readers – we are participating in several "Book Funnel" events. You can check out free chapters to a ton of fantasy books (and some are completely free books).
- Looking for your next female centric fantasy? Check out “Epic Heroines”. According to the organizer, “If your book has an epic lady kicking butt, then it belongs here.” June 1st-30th.
- Looking for a new fantasy series? Check out “Sci-fi and Fantasy Series”. According to the organizer, “This is for all sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal series EXCEPT erotica. No nekkid' man chests”. Copy that. June 13th through July 15th.
What we’re reading:
The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo, a wonderful blend of fantasy, folklore, history, and mystery.
Also Windmill Bluff by Michael Harnett, part gonzo caper, part funhouse mirror historical fiction.
Ross is re-reading The Thousand Names by Django Wexler, one of his favorite authors. This book falls into the “historical fantasy” genre, not because it is set in our world, but because the battles are reminiscent of the Napoleonic Wars. Fun fact, the major battle scene in Spirit Light Volume 1, including digging muddy trenches to slow down an uphill advance, was inspired by the Battle of Crecy in the Hundred Years’ War.
What we’re writing:
Something that happens when you are simultaneously writing two series of books with intertwining plots is
- You need to assure the plots all line up
- The narrative structure remains consistent
With that in mind, Ross is taking on a rewrite of Spirit Light Volume 1 so it will be structured more like volume 2, with less shifting between character storylines.
