Welcome back to Argren – a kick-ass epic fantasy series about witches and rebels who take on an evil oligarchy – a story for our times.
What we’re writing (this month it's more what we're doing)
In a word, Argren Faire at the Black Husky. This year's event, a celebration of the magical world of Argren and all things ren faire, returns to the Riverwest neighborhood in Milwaukee. Here's the official press release:
The event will focus on storytelling, art making and community building. We will again have participatory live action roleplay (LARP), authors' alley sponsored by Tabletop Bookshelf, an aluminum pour with the folks from Milwaukee Makers Space, plus the addition of this year of a storytelling booth hosted by Ex Fabula, and participatory traditional dance hosted by Milwaukee Irish Dance Studio and the Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers. We will again hold space for community organizations, including Courage MKE, Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, Vivant Health, Riverkeepers, Plastic Free MKE, Urban Ecology Center, and Reproductive Justice Action Milwaukee.
If you are in Milwaukee, we would love to see you. Come by authors' alley and say the magic phrase "N'alios does not give up her secrets easily" for a signed copy of the book of your choice.
In other writing news, Ross has completed the first draft of Spirit Song Volume 1, which we expect to have published early 2028. Look for Murtair March 2027.
Ross is still in rewrites of Old Magic, now renamed Book of the Witch: Book one of the Old Magic trilogy. Set in the world of Argren 2000 years after the events of the Spirit Song Saga and Rebels Rising, it's our first foray into urban fantasy.

What we're reading
Our Firkins and Fantasy Book Club read this month is a weird one (for me that's a plus). Piranesi is a dreamy novel set in an alternative universe filled with statues and no memories. Like I said, weird.

Why we love Milwaukee
One word - autumn. Fall in Milwaukee is, to our mind, better than fall anywhere else. Fighting words, I know. But after years of living in the south, we relish seasons that actually change.
