Come and Tag it!

My introduction to the governments love for small farmers happened in the mid 2000s. First, I went from shopping at Kroger and Walmart to Whole Paycheck and Wild Oats...
Next, the farmer's market. I begin to hear stories - the endless new rules, the paperwork, the surprise and arbitrary inspections. The fees and licenses... more rules.
But it was NAIS - the national animal ID system - that really stunned even me. You see the USDA had (what they thought) was a great idea. Every farmer in the US would need to RFID (radio frequency ID tag) every single one of their animals...
And if a chicken crossed the road, you would have 24 hours to call a 1-800 hotline to let the USDA know when and where (but not why, not even the USDA knows why the chicken crossed the road, but they are doing a study for just 140 million to figure out it)... if you didn't comply with the constant calls... yep, more fines.
Of course, these rules were evenly applied to all farmers... even CAFOS had to have them... well, CAFOs would have to have one ID per... entire building. Okay, not quite so evenly... almost looked like big players were being exempted while small players would face a massive and onerous new program to track only the independent meat system... hmmm...
There were protests across the entire nation, to the USDA's surprise, they were met with hostile crowds in every city they held listening hearings on the rule.
NAIS went away, but was not forgotten, at least not by the USDA.
And now, it is back.
And we need to stop it.
And we need your help to do it.
RFC TX stopping animal ID and similar programs will be a key focus, and for a limited time you can get $10 off a Saturday or Friday/Saturday ticket with code RFCTX10.
So go rogue, join us in TX, and help us stop the gov't snooping on every farmer, homesteader, and animal keeper in the US...
