I'd Rather Be Writing a New Book for You

But no! I get to have a root canal, instead.
Well, the upside is that the timing is about as good as it's going to get-- with me already taking a break before getting started on the first of the Slow River Valley Ranch books. I'm in a place I can stay put for awhile, and the credit card recently got paid down...just enough. Isn't that a coincidence? And I found a dentist nearby who doesn't give me Little Shop of Horrors vibes so appointments are scheduled.
And really-- nearly everyone I know has had root canals much younger than I am now, and this is my first one. I'm feeling like I'm winning.
Meanwhile-- I'm thrilled to say that the bonus scene I've been working on for Ash and Hyacinth McAllister (the couple from Trusting the Mountain Man) is finally taking shape!
It's just a fun little look at the couple several years into their HEA-- but remember, Hye was only 18 years old in her book, so a dozen years fast forward still has her plenty young enough for the news she has to deliver to Ash in this little scene!
I've been excited to write a scene for them later in their story because Hye was pretty young and very inexperienced-- in more than one way-- when she got her HEA and I've really wanted to show how she's grown up and who she's become as she's aged.
Their extra scene isn't done yet, but if the toothache doesn't get in the way, I'll have it ready for you next week!
I still have a couple of companion short stories to go with the Moonshine Ridge legacy families series, but I'm not sure when I'll have them put together. (I really want to look into Alice and Mable's rivalry-- it's a doozy.)
Meanwhile, I'm deep in the process of finalizing the look for the Slow River Valley Ranch covers too, which is always one of my favorite parts of this gig.
That's my entire week's worth of news.
I'll be back next week with more updates!
