Something to Read while I Search for Better Internet

Naturally, I'm going to suggest you read one of MY books if you find yourself with a blank spot in your Kindle library. (A what?! Is that even a thing?)

And if you haven't read A Promising Beginning yet, why not? Other than I'm lazy about including blurbs in the newsletter, of course!

It's the newest installment in the Modern Match-Maker (Raven Swann) series and everyone's been telling me it's one of their faves so far, so this is not the one to sleep on!

But when you run out of Rocklyn Ryder books to catch up on (or even before then, TBH,) you should check out this month's freebie from Talia James:

A simple misunderstanding. An undeniable attraction. The one lie that could tear them apart…

Sam was barely in the door when Lizzie insisted he get his clothes off. Thinking this to be some sort of mischievous prank, Sam obliges. Little did he know she’d confused him with the life model she’d booked and wastes no time thrusting him into her senior’s art class.

Unsure of how to handle the awkward moment, Sam literally grins and bears it. If nothing else, it puts him in the sexy art teacher's good graces and allows him to scope out the village to get a feel for local opinion on the real estate development he’s planning.

Lizzie soon finds herself falling for Sam’s charms. But the instant she learns the truth, she hardens her heart against him. Can Lizzie forgive Sam’s betrayal? Or will Sam end up losing more than just the shirt off his back?

Boy Howdy, folks! 2023 is kicking my butt.

Here's your typical "how it started/how it's going" photo essay

This was the day I snapped after over a month of hard snow piling up in South Lake Tahoe. That's me, driving out in a blizzard.

I have roommates when I stay in Tahoe and if I stayed any longer, the cabin was going to see some serious Shining level shenanigans.

I'd been waiting for a break between storms to get off the mountain, but the break never came. I had to camp in the car for a few days in the sunny, but also freezing cold, desert near Carson City, NV before I could get to the hobo house in the storage yard.

It. Would. Not. Stop. Snowing.

As soon as the sun peeked out, I hightailed it to the storage lot, spent an hour digging my trailer out of the snow and ice, let the manager know I was gone, daddy gone, and then I WENT!

South.

In really high winds not suitable for towing a tiny trailer that houses pretty much all your possessions, hopes, and dreams.

There was much butt-clenching involved.

But this is how it's going:

That there is some straight up 73 degrees (Fahrenheit,) partly cloudy, southern Nevada desert paradise, y'all. (Not pictured: Me basking on the warm dirt like a lizard.)

Difficulty? Me, traipsing around the desert holding my phone up in search of the best internet signal.

There's a downside to this nomad life. (I haven't washed my hair in 8 days, folks. I don't have the kind of hair that can go 8 days without being washed.)

But I do have internet out here in the middle of nowhere. And so I thought I'd get around to the newsletter and give you an update.

I will be moseying on to a proper campground soon where I will gain access to hot showers-- however, I will be trading my internet signal for that luxury.

While I'm offline for a couple of weeks, I will be working very hard to wrap up the current WIP. It's a short series of surly, mountain man, quick reads and I'm trying to finish them all together so there's no dramatic lag between releases.

I'll be back in a couple of weeks with an update!

I hope everyone is warm and safe and cozy with all the books you need to get through in the places where winter is refusing to let go and in all the places where winter is about to come knocking.
