2026 has been a weird year. I've been writing in the Moonshine Ridge world consistently for the last few years. I'd planned to be about nine new books deep into more of it by this time, but here we are-- closing out on the first week of October-- and where are these books?
No really, I'm asking. Because I expected them to be here, and-- as you know-- they aren't.
Not for lack of writing... I've spent hours sitting at the keyboard, working on the next book and yet, I haven't made any progress worth mentioning.
How is that even possible?
Well-- now it's fall, pumpkin spice is everywhere, and my author-focus is fully dialed in on the holiday Match-Maker books, which have a hard deadline.
Meanwhile-- if you pay attention to news in the indie author spaces, you might have heard that Amazon is... um... presenting indie authors with "challenges."
Yeah, let's go with that wording. (Totally not me rolling my eyes.)
So I'm just concentrating on getting these books done, trying not to stress out, and getting back to work on one last construction project on the hobo house.
Yes, I got back to the Nevada home earlier today. I have to rebuild the cabinet that the sink is in... and now, I have to figure out why my ceiling exhaust fan won't work after three days of driving back from Colorado. (sigh)
Here's a photo from the Bonneville Salt Flats, where I spent night 2 of my trek home after a solid 10-hours of driving from the east side of Wyoming to the west side of Utah.
I'm kind of a hot mess now-- more than usual-- as I work on these books and the final little projects on the hobo house before heading south for the winter next month.
You've probably already noticed the emails aren't getting sent every week lately-- I can always find stuff to babble about, but some weeks, I just space out.
I'll just say that we are getting very close the point of the current book where I start squealing with how fun it is. I promise to share when I get there.
