What Happens When Old Ladies Play Never Have I Ever

As soon as I heard about that game of Never Have I Ever that had Deputy Hawkins breaking up a fight between those ornery old ladies, I knew I needed to know what happened.
Fortunately, I happen to know the author of the Moonshine Ridge books, so it didn't take too much pleading to get that scene written. (She did keep insisting she was very busy writing Raine Hart's book and could I please just wait a minute? Umm...no.)
It's a fun little scene, that also gives us a better look at this Howard Smalls guy, but I admit-- it left me with more questions about who these people are and the history they've shared after 80 plus years of growing up and growing old together in the tiny mountain community.
The short companion story to Mountain Man's Need is available for newsletter subscribers only and won't won't do much to spoil the book if you haven't read it yet.
Honestly, I have plans to write several companion shorts for the Moonshine Ridge world overall. It's just time consuming and, because some of it is historical, I need to do a little real-life research before I can put those scenes together properly.
Baby steps-- the main series comes first! And Raine and April are finding their way through their personal backgrounds to get their HEA on! I'm still on schedule for a May 8 release for that one.
And, y'all? Whew...gotta tell ya, the Harts have some heartbreak in their family (that I've known for a good while of course,) but now that it's time to tell their stories, I'm really seeing how it's affected each member of the family individually.
This is an emotional set of books to turn into quick, cute, happily ever afters, and it's not helping that the younger three siblings all want to talk at once.
Hayle? He swears he's never coming back to Moonshine Ridge...I guess we'll just see about that.
