Another Week, Another Chapter Closer to Done

The good news this week is that I have resupplied the snack stash! Crunchy Cheetos and frosted sugar cookies are in the house! But disappearing quickly.

I just wrapped up another chapter on Unbreakable Trust (the next book in the Rogue Ops series) and did a quick read through just to make sure it didn't end up being a hot mess-- okay, to make sure it didn't end up being too hot a mess-- and was reminded why I stepped away from trying to follow the restraints of the short story format I've been working in for the last few years.

It's a long chapter (for me,) and it drops a lot of insight into our guys on the team. That's what I wanted to do-- I want to be able to include more backstory and scene setting throughout the story telling, instead of narrowing the focus just to our main characters and their relationship.

Make sense?

Now, don't get too excited; I have the attention span of a house fly. There's a reason I don't write long novels. Or novels, at all, for the most part.

The Rogue Ops books are still going to be novella length-- almost definitely. I won't really know until it's done, you know?

But after I wrapped up that chapter, I went ahead and made some "where we go from here" notes for the upcoming chapter (because I can't write a proper outline or I would never finish a book at all) and I am particularly fond of this little note to self:

Glad the old guy's dead, pissed he wasn't the one that got to do it, and frustrated as hell that all they've got is this third-hand story that has nothing to do with Cara's captivity and everything to do with the rantings of a madman.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to find out what that's about! (I mean, I kinda know, but I don't really know yet. Ya know?)

That's our update from the writing cave. I'm deep in the "having fun with this" phase and the only reason I remembered to schedule this email for the week was because I got hungry.

In other authorly news; I'm still working on getting books into paperbacks on Amazon, still experimenting with my email service, still getting the match maker series published outside of Amazon, aaaaannnd... still need to update the website with links to the new paperbacks. *yawn* I know, boring. I'm more interested in writing the book too.

In nomad news: I'm still in the same place for a month now. My itchy feet are itchy, and I'm ready to move to a new spot. I was waiting on mail to catch up to me, which it finally did. So I should be in a new location soon. We had a couple of weeks of temperatures in the mid to high 80s (that's Fahrenheit, btw, because otherwise OMG!) and I was pretty unhappy with that in February-- but now the temps have dropped and I'm bundled up in my sweats and hoodie again.

I can't believe February is already more than half way over.

Sorry. I don't have any great free books to tell you about this week and I've been camped in a boring place for a long time so I also don't have any pretty pictures to break up my rambling wall of text.

I'll try to do better next week!
