Hi, !
Happy Anniversary to Twisted by Time! π
A year ago, I decided I was sick of waiting around for literary agents to get back to me. I was sick of rejection. I was sick of putting my dreams in someone else's hands. I'd spent years querying, sending manuscripts, revising, and facing one "NO" after another.
One year ago today, I published my first book.
Now I've published 12 ebooks (with 3 more on the way), 7 paperbacks, 6 hardbacks, and 4 audiobooks (with 3 more on the way).
Don't wait around for someone else to make your dreams come true. Take life into your own hands. Seize the day. Take the plunge. Whatever your dream is, you can do this! β€οΈ
Signed Books!
I just got my first shipment of books to sign! As of this week, the order form on my website is now live for ordering signed books directly from me (even international)! This is huge for authors because if you buy books directly from us, it means we don't have to split royalties with another publisher like Amazon. Plus, your book will be signed, and the order comes with cool swag, too - bookmarks and character art! π Check it out here.
Speaking of character art, I got the design of Cora and Vince from my second artist, and I am over the moon about it! Want to see? Here it is:
The artist is @Diabolical_Victorian_Cat on Instagram! Isn't she so talented?! π I'll be giving away bookmarks with this art, plus prints of Cora and Vince as a bonus gift for anyone who orders a signed copy of The Demon's Kiss from my website π
Cover Reveal!
And last, but not least, here's a special cover reveal for Book 2 of the Bloodcaster Chronicles!!
***heads up, there is a minor spoiler on this cover π¬***
That's right, Vince is a dark angel π±π What do you think? Are you excited about where the story will go? Do you like the cover? π
The Angel's Vow is up for preorder! If you've already read Book 1 and you're itching to get your hands on Book 2, have no fear - it'll be available August 1 π

This week's tip: Avoid the Info-Dump!
When you've poured your heart and soul into developing your world, characters, and culture, all you want to do is tell your readers all about it, right? Wrong.
Don't overdo it! One problem I often see - in my own writing and in others' - is the curse of the info-dump. Paragraphs upon paragraphs, even pages of straight information that doesn't move the plot whatsoever. It just sets the stage. Don't do this! Feed the information to your character in small bites as it's relevant. If the reader doesn't need to know it right now, save it for later! You don't want to risk boring your reader. Focus on what's important to the immediate plot.
Say your main character is nervous about the upcoming ceremony that will determine if he becomes a dragon shifter or a wolf shifter. When you describe his anxiety, and how it makes him feel, this is a good time to tell the reader why he's nervous and explain that part of the world.
But if your world also has an ice-cold mountain range that's haunted by the ghosts of past warlocks and the hero has to cross this mountain range later on, you really don't need to mention those mountains at the beginning of your story. Save that for later, maybe when the character is mapping out his journey, or even when he's right on the cusp of the mountain range and he's starting to feel uncertain about his journey.
