This segment is for those of you who are writing and looking to improve! Please keep in mind I am not an expert by any means, but I do have a lot of experience that I would love to share with you! πŸ™‚

This week's tip: Plotting

Writers are often categorized in two groups: plotters and pantsers (many of us are something in between). A plotter is someone who goes by an extensive outline and plans everything before writing. A pantser is someone who "flies by the seat of their pants" and just writes, letting the story carry them.

I used to be a big plotter, but now I'm more of a pantser! Honestly, the stories - and the characters - tend to take over completely, and a lot of the time, the story writes itself! But I always go in with a plan. I highly recommend Save the Cat Writes a Novel for an extensive outline. It helps you ensure your story is centered on a character arc. Before I start writing, I like to have at least the first three chapters outlined so I have a roadmap, and then I dive in 😊
