Hi, !
It's release day!! Book 2, The Fallen Demon, is available now! Here's a sneak peek:
Her eyes were blazing, and her face was pink. “Don’t you dare,” she growled.
My eyebrows shot up. “Dare what? To care for you? To love you?”
Brielle gasped as if I’d uttered a filthy word. I took a step closer to her, and she inhaled sharply. Fear shone in her eyes, but it mingled with something hot and palpable—something I could feel down to my bones.
“Brielle,” I murmured, drawing even closer to her. “I love you.”
She licked her lips and shook her head. “No. No, you don’t. That’s not love.”
I laughed. “And how do you know?”
“It’s just our blood connection. It’s my blood you want, Leo. Not me.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Though I can’t deny that your blood is alluring, Little Nightmare, I know for certain I would love you even if no blood flowed through your veins. Even if you were nothing more than a spirit haunting me with your stubbornness and anger, I would still love you.”
Desire stirred in her eyes, but she shook her head again. “You can’t do this to me,” she said in a broken voice. “You can’t—” She placed a hand on my chest as if to push me away, but her fingers lingered against the fabric of my shirt. Her hand traced up to my collarbone, and her eyes darted to mine. “You make me weak,” she whispered. “I don’t like being weak.”
I leaned close to her, close enough to smell the saltwater scent emanating from her pale skin. Her brown eyes were speckled with flecks of green. A dusting of freckles coated her nose and cheeks.
“Tell me to stop,” I said in a throaty voice, “and I will.”
Brielle’s breath hitched, and her gaze flicked down to my mouth. She caught her lower lip between her teeth, and a low groan climbed up my throat.
She made no objection, so I drew closer until my chest was touching hers. Redness bloomed across her cheeks, and her body tensed as if poising for a fight. But she didn’t pull away from me.
My eyes bored into hers, and she looked up at me with fear and longing. I should stop, a voice within me warned. I should back away from her and keep my distance. Even if it hurts her.
But being close enough to taste her warmth and her breath, I couldn’t move away unless she wanted me to.
“Tell me to stop, Brielle,” I said again.
Her eyes held mine. I sensed her blood racing, and my own blood pulsed desperately in response. Want, want, want, my blood seemed to say.
Then, ever so slightly, Brielle shook her head. “Don’t,” she breathed. “Don’t stop.”
