Talking Photography N'at April 25 7 pm EDT via Zoom in the email
Mar 20, 2023 9:31 pm
Friends, it has been a while.
Since our last meet-up in December, I have focused on several aspects of my life and business.
At the end of last year, I took a workshop with Mary Virginia Swanson (https://www.mvswanson.com/) and Susan Kae Grant (http://www.susankaegrant.com/) on the PhotoBook at the laluzworkshops.com if you are looking for some online workshop inspiration I encourage you to check out their offerings.
After some Christmas Holiday R&R (and the subsequent Southwest Airlines Meltdown of 2022 - still getting over that trauma.) I came back to Pittsburgh excited to learn something different. You may remember back in the middle of the pandemic; I featured a guest photographer Andrew Southam (https://andrewsoutham.com/). He was giving a workshop online via the Santa Fe Workshops (https://santafeworkshops.com/), "Emotions into Photographs and Text with Andrew Southam," a pretty intensive experience. It was about personal experiences and how to express those with photographs and text, sometimes as a part of the image itself. Think Duane Michals. As you know, I have a lot of balls (and balloons) in the air all at once, and I have been working on several projects. Some of which may interest you all.
I am actively looking for a location for a presentation by my friend and fellow photographer Daniel Milnor, the Photographer evangelist at Blurb Books. https://shifter.media/ and https://www.blurb.com/. Stay tuned for that.
I am also working on dates and locations for a hands-on Photo Workshop in McKeesport with Duane Michals sometime this summer. I am also actively looking for space for small workshops and in-person meetings. If you know of areas I should consider, let me know.
That is still a work in progress. Not having a regular Talking Photography N'at has been frustrating for some. I needed a mental break to determine how I wanted this to continue. I would like to have some in-person events this year in Pittsburgh and continue these virtual meetings, if not every month, every few months. I want to build out some podcasts like conversations. All in all some exciting possibilities.
I want to focus on April 25 at 7 pm. I want to show some of your photographs and talk about things that you are interested in taking about photography. Drop me a line and let me know what you are thinking about.
Until April, keep making pictures.
I hope you can join in for Talking Photography N'at.
