Hello!
Here's something you might not know about me: When I was younger, I actually hated reading. Crazy, right?
When I was in school, we were required to read books and take Accelerated Reader (AR) tests on them. It was one of my least favorite things about school. I dreaded it. None of the books available sounded even remotely interesting to me, and reading felt more like a chore than something anyone would do for fun.
But one day, a friend's mother told me something I've never forgotten. She said she didn't believe I hated reading. She thought I just hadn't found the right books yet. She handed me a copy of Dragons of Spring Dawning by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman and told me to read it and let her know what I thought.
Now, here's the funny part. Dragons of Spring Dawning is actually the third book in the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy. I'm pretty sure she meant to give me the first one, because I had absolutely no idea what was going on at first! But I kept reading.
And once I started figuring out who everyone was and what was happening, I was hooked. Dragons. Magic. Epic quests. It's exactly what I'd been missing! It was everything I never knew I wanted in a book. Suddenly, reading wasn't a chore anymore. It was fun, and I couldn't get enough.
