Hello!
The cooler temperatures have arrived, and I'm not happy about it. I love summer, so we're getting to the seasons I dislike, ha!
Anyway, Chosen released on Tuesday this week, so if you preordered it, you magically received it! And if you didn't preorder it, you can get it now that it's live. Book 2, Acolyte, is being edited and will release November 12, and I've started work on book 3, Sworn.
I've done a few local events the past few weekends, and while fun, they weren't as good as the previous year. I think there are several factors that contributed to that, but it happens every 4 years (looking at you, Election Fear).
I don't know about you, but I'll be glad when the election is over. The political fear and propaganda feels so much worse than normal to the point I don't want to even open Facebook. I think a lot of other people feel the same way, judging by the recent poor performance of my Facebook ads.
This is a good example of why books are amazing. They provide the escapism we need.
And speaking of books, if you live in or near Nashville, TN, you should come to The Southern Festival of Books! It's October 26-27 and it's FREE to attend. I'll be there at booth 82.
A few months ago, I shared some pictures of a dragon pen that was hand-made and used an image from one of my covers. I also asked for feedback if you'd be interested in buying pens like that, and the overwhelming response was "yes!"
I'm happy to announce the pens have launched on Kickstarter! There are 3 options, and each one is unique. Pewter, brass, and copper. They each feature dragon scales at the upper portion of the pen, and artwork from some of my books on the bottom portion.
The Kickstarter launched on Tuesday and will run until Halloween. You can check it out below.
Below you'll also find 3 free ebook promos, the Kickstarter link, and details of my newest book.
What I’m reading: I'm been busy and haven't had as much time to read, but I'm closing in on finishing The Last Shadow Knight by Michael Webb.
What I’m watching: I recently watched Country Rain. An author friend of mine, Keyon Henry, wrote a screenplay and it was turned into a movie by a film company that does microbudget films. I enjoyed it! You can stream it on some of the streaming platforms and it's also available on YouTube. I also rewatched the Lord of the Rings trilogy this week to take a break between all the things vying for my attention.
What are you reading/watching?
As always, a huge thank you for the support!
Richard
