Hello!
If you live in the south like me, hopefully you weren't affected by the storm that came through last weekend and sent tornados across multiple states! We fared well here, but there were some areas not far from us that got hit a little hard.
I was supposed to be at Tupelo Con in Tupelo, Mississippi last weekend, and despite the storm, the con announced on Thursday they weren't cancelling. I drove 4 hours on Friday to the venue and set up my booth, then left to check in to my hotel and grab dinner. Just as I was about to eat, I got a call from some author friends who were still at the venue and they told me the con leadership had decided to cancel. The weather had been upgraded, and they felt it was the best decision for the safety of everyone.
Several tornados hit Mississippi that night, so it was definitely the right decision. Since I had no other reason to be there, I went and packed up and headed back home that night. It's one of my favorite events, so I'm definitely bummed the weather took a turn for the worse. Aside from the 8 hours I spent driving, I'm also out on the gas money and half of the hotel because the hotel only agreed to refund one night even though I didn't stay at all.
It was frustrating, but I'm glad I came straight home.
The writing has slowed due to my events, but I've been back at it this week, continuing on with the second arc of my new book. I've got a local event tomorrow, and then I'll be in Richmond next weekend. I'm focusing my efforts on writing as much as I can while I have the time!
My Kickstarter has been doing well, and we've unlocked some extra goodies (with a few yet to be unlocked). If you haven't checked it out yet, it ends on the 26th around 11AM Eastern, so there's still time!
Speaking of Kickstarter, I'll be doing a special edition of my Bound by Blood series. That will be coming a little later this year, but I got the cover design back and it looks epic! I'll share it soon.
There isn't much else to talk about, so this newsletter will be a short one.
Below you'll find the link to my Kickstarter and a promo with revolving free books.
What I’m reading: I've been bad about reading before bed, and I really need to get back to it.
What I’m watching: I watched The Electric State on Netflix last weekend. It was a fun movie! The plot deviates from the graphic novel it's based on, but it worked in my opinion.
What are you reading/watching?
As always, a huge thank you for the support!
Richard
