The Charter Review Commission is holding several town halls to gather public feedback on charter amendments currently under consideration. It’s very important that people who support prioritizing public safety and establishing a supermajority requirement for future tax increases attend these meetings and provide thoughtful, respectful comments in support.

Be sure to check out Reformcast E12 with Commissioner Peter Silliman (who is also running for Clark County Council District 2) to learn more about several other proposed charter amendments involving budget transparency, independent council staffing for audits, and reducing the Council’s dependence on Executive Branch staff.

It’s important that you show up and speak up, because if you don’t, others will.

Speaking of that, Auditor Greg Kimsey — who recently spoke at a local “No Kings” event — has been attending these town halls and offering negative comments in what appears to be a clear attempt to stifle support for many of the proposed charter amendments.

Don’t let Kimsey dominate these town halls.

Town hall events will take place in each of the five county council districts.

- District 1: 10 a.m. to noon May 23 in the Columbia Room at Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., Vancouver.

- District 3: 2-4 p.m. June 14 at Cascade Park Community Library, 600 N.E. 136th Ave., Vancouver.

- District 4: 3-5 p.m. June 6 at the Camas Public Library, 625 N.E. Fourth Ave., Camas.

- District 5: 1-3 p.m. June 7 in the Moulton Falls Room at the Battle Ground Event Center, 912 E. Main St., Battle Ground.
