Gearing Up For Last 30 Days - Winco Foods Stops Signature Gathering At Brush Prairie Store
Apr 23, 2024 3:25 am
Greetings ,
As we approach the last 30 days of the REC initiative signature gathering (May 25th is the deadline), I think it's important to get a signature count so we know how many we need to collect in this final stretch.
Please reply with how many signatures/sheets you have collected so far OR drop them off this week at CCRP HQ (call for available hours), Punk's Muffler, Bark Ranch, Firmly Planted or Smokie River Smoked Meats.
Judge Grants Winco Preliminary Injunction Order To Stop Restore Election Confidence Signature Gathering
Last Friday, Winco Foods brought me to court seeking a ruling to halt signature gathering. Although the judge restricted the ruling to just the Brush Prairie store, the entire ordeal was unnecessary. I have consistently advised volunteers to avoid Winco Foods, and I was cooperative upon being served. Despite Winco failing to demonstrate any new evidence of a "well-grounded fear," the judge still ruled in their favor.
In my view, Winco Foods is pursuing further legal action to influence law enforcement policies, potentially impacting signature gathering not only at their stores but also across all grocery stores in Clark County.
Their actions have cost me two weeks of time that could have been spent gathering signatures, recruiting volunteers, and establishing new petition stations. Additionally, I now have to consider diverting funds from advertising and marketing to cover upcoming legal expenses.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK TO ENGAGE WITH VOTERS AND GATHER SIGNATURES FOR THE REC!
ICYMI: From Safeway to Winco Foods: The Targeting of the Restore Election Confidence Initiative
As some of you may know, Winco Foods served me on April 10 and is seeking to sue in order to shut down petition gathering at all their locations and to claim damages. The problem is, I've never encouraged volunteers to gather at Winco locations. I've sent out several communications to volunteers, advising them to steer clear of Winco but to collect at other grocery stores like Safeway, Fred Meyer, Walmart, Rosauers, etc.
Yet, here I am, having to divert hours and hours to respond, prepare, and will be attending a hearing on Friday, April 19th, to fight the Temporary Restraining Order motion.
So far, we've had legal elites breaking the law to stop us, administrative elites working to change the law to stop us from future attempts, and now corporate elites threatening and bullying us with cease and desist orders and lawsuits.
No matter the outcome, this has been quite eye-opening, hasn't it?
I'll keep you posted on the hearing results.

REMINDER: No Signature Gathering At WinCo Food Stores
Today, April 10, I was served with papers regarding legal action taken against me and the Restore Election Confidence Initiative. In short, WinCo Foods does have a history of not permitting community groups on their property, unlike other stores like Fred Meyer, Safeway, etc, and has had successful adjudication to prevent signature gathering at their stores.
I contacted their attorney and explained that I already communicated to our volunteers (via our Signal App group) on March 22, 2024, that volunteers should stay clear of WinCo Foods locations because they have had successful legal decisions and have consistently kept community groups off their properties.
This DOES NOT MEAN we should stop gathering signatures at other stores like Fred Meyer, Safeway, Albertsons, Walmarts, etc. This only means we should avoid WinCo Foods locations.
