EXTORTION: Illegal Strike Continues To Paralyze Ridgefield Parentsimage

Even though striking is illegal for public employees, which includes teachers, (RCW 41.56.120), they're doing it anyway. This law exists because public employees provide vital services to the community and easily have an unfair advantage over the public if they withhold those services.

  • The law which authorizes collective bargaining for teachers specifically provides that, “Nothing contained in this chapter shall permit or grant any public employee the right to strike or refuse to perform his or her official duties” (RCW 41.56.120).
  • In 2006, the State Attorney General’s Office issued an opinion on the legality of public employee strikes, concluding that: “In Washington, state and local public employees do not have a legally protected right to strike. No such right existed at common law, and none has been granted by statute.”
  • The website for the State Office of Financial Management bluntly notes that state employees “are not permitted or granted the right to strike or refuse to perform their official duties.”

I can see the fear in parents because they are afraid if they speak out against the REA their kids will be treated harshly as a result. Parents need help to see that others stand with them and the bully & illegal tactics of REA cannot stand.

CALL TO ACTION: A group of parents will meet across from the RAC on Pioneer St across the street from striking teachers from 10am-12noon Friday (9/16)

Also, if this strike isn't met with peaceful resistance then it'll surely spread to other school districts in the County and State (like the McCleary strikes of 2018)

We want to stop playing defense and go on offense and make changes that is going to move our county, our communities, back into law and order as our Constitution prescribes.

We all live busy lives but our system of government requires vigilance and engagement so that corruption and tyranny can't take over.

The Home Rule Charter has taken away power from the people and given it to an unelected bureaucracy and the administrative state here in Clark County. Last year, hardly anyone educated voters to let them know that the Home Rule Charter Committee was made up mostly ALL LEFTIST DEMOCRATS and they want to little-by-little take more power away from the people.
