ICYMI: Voter Receives Forwarded Ballot In Portland... AFTER Cancelling Voter Registration

image

A Clark County voter moved to Portland and notified the Elections Department by mailing a notification on February 16, 2024. Strangely, it took OVER A WEEK to reach the Elections Department, and the voter's registration was confirmed as canceled by the end of the day on February 23, 2024. Surprisingly, a ballot was forwarded on February 29, 2024. If, by chance, the ballot had already been printed, why wasn't action taken to remove it from mailing? Why wasn't the voter at least notified via email that their ballot had already been sent out, urging them to be aware?

This incident is just one of several examples of how illegitimate ballots are sent out and haplessly forwarded by the USPS.

Another family informed me that, despite moving to Lewis County in mid-October, changing their voting registration, and correctly receiving a ballot from Lewis County, they ALSO RECEIVED A BALLOT FROM CLARK COUNTY, which was once again forwarded by the USPS.

FORWARDING BALLOTS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! If a ballot is undeliverable but has a forwarding address, it should be returned to the Elections Department. Subsequently, the voter should be notified immediately to correct the matter (cancel or change voter registration) for their ballot to be resent or forwarded. Even if this is happening within the County, it still implies that someone is likely voting for the wrong district or candidate.

The Restore Election Confidence Initiative would address these issues by requiring all such incidents to be reported at the end of the election. This will help determine if these are isolated cases or a recurring pattern that needs immediate attention. Additionally, the Elections Department would be mandated to take active measures, as described above, rather than passively relying on the voter to send in a change request.

How frequently is this happening in Clark County? It's more widespread than we currently know.

IF YOU KNOW OF OTHER EXAMPLES LIKE THIS, PLEASE REPLY BY CLICKING HERE AND ALERT ME ASAP. If possible, send me pictures of your ballot (with personal identifiers blocked) or other evidence, such as emails or statements detailing what happened.
