Hi ,
Just in case you didn't know, July is Fibroids Awareness Month. Unfortunately, black women are more prone to develop fibroids. Research states that genetic predisposition puts black women at a higher incidence of developing them.
Do you know what else cause them? Stress, a poor diet, vitamin D deficiency, obesity, trauma and of course, perimenopause.
I was diagnosed last year when I noticed something was up with my period. Side note - if you aren't tracking your cycle symptoms, small things like this can slip by. Anyhow, it is highly possible that mine are related to changes in hormones. Fibroids LOVE estrogen. It is like fertiliser for them. In perimenopause, progesterone is steadily declining while estrogen is doing the most. As I keep preaching, this IS the time to take care of your health. I definitely don't want to go the surgical route nor going on the pill so the best next thing is to deal witht he excess estrogen and inflammation.
That means my toolkit will consist of
- Really managing blood sugar levels
- Helping my liver to remove excess estrogen
- Continue to flood my body with anti-inflammatory foods
- Increase the consumption of cruciferious vegetables like broccoli, cabbage
- Womb meditation
So if you have fibroids and haven't started with any of the above, I suggest you do that, especially point 3. If you need help with that, feel free to reply to this email.
Freedom, Happiness, Balance
