Hello !
How are you going at the start of another great week? This is probably the longest I've gone being late on the newsletter to the point I'm thinking I should make the change permanent! What do you think? Should it change to coming on Mondays instead? Let me know!
Before I go on, a shameless request! Could you forward this newsletter to just 3 people that you think would like one of the articles? It helps A LOT! If you're the friend reading this, click the link below to join! Glad to have you here!
In this week's email...

- Creative Update - Five reasons I can't go back to a normal car after a Tesla
- Gadget - 65W GaN Charger

- Watch - Tiniest apartments in NYC
- Quote - “Every choice you make has an end result”
Week in the life
This week's newsletter was on track until... I got distracted by cleaning! Because of the trip to Byron Bay and the ridiculous work hours, nothing had been done in a little while. I got a bit carried away tidying up and the next thing I knew, it was time for the podcast. It's been recorded and just needs a quick final edit before it comes out tomorrow. I can say that WE HAD ANOTHER MESSAGE! That' means 1 more Growing Up Brown story! Anyway, more on all that over on the blog...
Creative update
Medium: Five reasons I can't go back to a normal car after a Tesla
My little experiment with writing on Medium continues! It's a bit weird to write things in the listicle format, but it looks like it's really a thing. Also, coming up with headlines is hard!
I have to say that actually going back to a nice petrol car after a so long actually was refreshing, but ultimately made me appreciate my Tesla more...
Gadgets/Tech
If you hadn't gathered by now, I am OBSESSED with these new generation of chargers and am constantly trying to find just one tiny device that will power my laptop and phone. I've already ordered this one because currently it's only about $30 AUD! My first GaN charger cost me about 4 times as much!
It's nearly the end of the financial year and I'm sure what ever work you do, this is probably claimable. It's a very easy way of making your everyday carry that much lighter and more compact than carrying whatever default phone/laptop charger that you do have...
Other gadgets
- Kaweco sport pen - My new favourite compact fountain pen
- Nanopresso - Tiny little device to make some GREAT espresso. I use this at work to avoid bad coffee!

Spray on coating could reduce plastic wrap
This one is my little contribution to spreading more positive news instead of just the negative.
I've often wondered now that most of Australia has banned single use plastic shopping bags, when is the next wave of packaging coming that DOESN'T involve plastic? I mean practically EVERYTHING in the supermarket is covered in the stuff. SO this might actually be the answer...
Watch
At some point during the many lockdowns of Melbourne, I started watching real estate tours of these crazy apartments in NYC.
Then came this video. Showing just how small apartments over there can be and for decent rental prices too! Indulge your voyeurism but on the less flashy side...
Quote I'm pondering
“Every choice you make has an end result”
– Zig Ziglar
I saw that quote this week and it made me stop and think. I've been saying that getting on top of my health and getting back into shape has been a priority for a while but as I write this, I've had some charcoal chicken with delicious chips, some samosas and maybe the healthiest meal today was dinner.
Those choices from during the day all have an end result and even the little ones count.
While stated like this, it sounds a bit banal, it did remind me that half the obstacles in the way of reaching a goal is often self-inflicted, so maybe I should get out of my own way and actually make the right choices?
Does this ring true for you too? Or is it just me? Let me know!
Anyway, that's enough navel gazing for this week! Have a great week ahead!
- Raffy
PS - What was your favourite part of the email this week? Do you like/dislike the subtle changes this year? Let me know with 1 click! I read the survey every week (& keep tweaking things with your feedback!)
