Ohaiyo, !
That's Japanese for "good morning" - I assume most people will end up seeing this in the morning since it's a bit late on the Sunday. How's your weekend been so far? What did you get up to?
Before I go on, a shameless request! Could you forward this newsletter to just 3 people that you think would like one of the articles? It helps A LOT! If you're the friend reading this, click the link below to join! Glad to have you here!

Week in the life
Well, today was a rest day. One that was sorely needed after 20 continuous days of work. Not all were full days but I've realised that once I hit about 10-12 in a row, even half days tend to take it out of me. I'm getting old I guess?
I actually had a few phone calls to cover things today, but it was a hard no. Mainly because last night, I went to catch up with one of my good friends for dinner. Unbeknownst to me, as we left the restaurant, I had dropped my wallet and didn't even notice. Now, this is only the second time EVER I've lost my wallet and the last time was 2 decades ago and I noticed within 15 mins.
This morning, I went for a long walk with another friend which was ironically about 100m away from where the wallet was! I still had no idea it was missing until the front desk person at the apartment called me to say a good Samaritan had picked it up and tried to contact me! It was really nice and it turned out he was an interesting chap but more on that over on the blog...
Creative update
Do I need another pair of headphones? Totally the wrong question since they're like my Achille's heel. So yeah, I bought the Pixel Buds Pro and even made a short Youtube video about them. The earphones actually arrived BEFORE their release date even though I bought it from the Google Store!
Now, I clearly don't know how to do proper reviews, so this is more of an unboxing and first impressions...
Gadgets/Tech
Ok so I mentioned other percussive massagers in the past that I thought were pretty good. I had some friends visiting and they saw my one and gave it a try and they were NOT impressed. They had a Theragun Mini and convinced me that it was nothing like the one I had. After using this for the last few days, I'd say they were right: there is a clear difference in the ability of the Theragun to deliver some great percussive massages that the other brand just couldn't achieve.
My back is feeling much better already!
Other gadgets/tech
- Tirtyl Washing Detergent "Sheets" - Just a super cool way of saving water/plastic and the planet in general
- Levitating pen - I don't think I'll get sick of magnetic levitation devices and this is one of the ones mentioned before
Read
Cost of living around the world
As you may recall, I love well presented data and this little page is one that shows a comparison of the cost of living between the cities of the world. Not a lot to read, but I quite like playing around and having a look at the costs around the world.
Book I'm currently reading
- Death's End - Given how many hours I did the last 3 weeks, I barely got a chance to actually read so I'm still on this one!
Listen
Recession Money Moves with Ramit Sethi
Going back a few weeks, I shared some stuff about what a recession was. This podcast is 2 people from the US that I follow discussing just what they would do if the economy went down to the bad times. Ramit is an author that suggests some awesome no BS things to do with finances and Noah Kagan is an entrepreneur and all around marketing genius.
Now, they're both very successful people and what I took away from this episode (apart from the actionable items) was EVERYONE worries about the economy no matter how much money they have.
Quote I'm pondering
“I may not have been sure about what really did interest me, but I was absolutely sure about what didn't.”
– Albert Camus
I went on a long walk with a friend earlier today and part of the chat revolved around philosophy and the cryptic nature of some of their writings. I thought about it and realised it's often that they have a very clever (but obtuse) way of getting their point across.
Apart from the Stoics, who I find very straight forward, there are quotes only here and there that seem easy enough to grasp. This week's quote is one that makes a lot of sense to me. I posted up the ability to ask anonymous questions on Instagram and someone asked about medical school and whether I had failed anything.
While I hadn't, the rotations that I did poorly should've given me a clue as to the things I did enjoy. For the record, it was an Aged Care rotation - possibly the further you can go from Critical Care, where I know work in.
So maybe if you can't think of what you want, trying to figure out what you don't mind help?
That's all for this week! Catch you next time!

PS - Given it's been 2 years, I'll be going back through the feedback and tweaking things. Do you like/dislike the subtle changes this year? Let me know with 1 click! I read the survey every week (& keep tweaking things with your feedback!)
