Loki, balconies, and Wallace Shawn

Hello my lovelies,

Who’s been watching all the new Marvel shows on Disney+? I am obsessed with Loki (this is no surprise if you’ve read Heart to Heart) and even more obsessed with all the theories abounding on TikTok about what it all means! The only thing I haven’t watched yet is Black Widow, but I am hoping to get a chance to do it soon. Who’s seen it? Is it good?

In other news, my best friend, my daughter and I are all having a summer movie marathon watching all the old movies we’ve missed and love. Just the other night we watched When Harry Met Sally (it’s the bestie’s favorite and her birthday choice). I forgot how much I love that movie. Next up on our list is Pitch Perfect, because somehow I'm the only one of us who’s seen it! Pretty sure The Princess Bride is up after that, watching Clueless the other night had us both quoting it like crazy. Any suggestions for what we should watch next?

What’s New?

I promised some details on my new series in this newsletter, didn’t I? Well, I'll stop being such a tease and fill you in on what I’m doing.

My new series is going to be called Repertoire Remixed (tentatively, if you can think of a better name let me know, lol). It’s going to be a series of contemporary retellings of some of the great story ballets. What are story ballets you ask? The story ballets are exactly like what they sound like—classic tales like Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Giselle, etc. Of course, I like to make my life difficult and I’m not using any of the examples I just listed. At least, not in this next series....

Starting with a retelling of the classic Romeo and Juliet, each book will be an updated look at some of the lesser-known story ballets. It’s going to be a series of interconnected stand-alones. Characters will appear in all 6 stories, but each book will feature it’s own couple.

I am so freaking excited and having so much fun with all these characters already!

What's Next?

I’m still plugging away at this book. I promise I’m writing as fast as I can! I won’t be rapid releasing this series like I did for On Pointe, but my goal is to release book 1 this fall. I was hoping to be done sooner, but life got in the way. Updates always go to my newsletter and my Facebook group first.

Want To Try Something New?

I know I've shouted my love for Danielle Keil's The Pact series before, but haven't shouted out her first series, the Parkdale books. Out of the Darkness is taunting me from my Kindle, waiting for me to crack it open once I get more words written...

He's the All-American boy. She's the quiet, bookworm girl. But things aren't always what they seem. Will their love survive when the summer ends?

Does winning a few state championship football games make someone the ‘king’ of a town? Everyone acted like it did for Brandon McNair.

Except me. I didn't care. I had my own issues to deal with, my own life to sort out.

I didn't even know who Brandon was the day I saw him at the park. Our first meeting didn't go well either when he accidently threw my book into a pond.

The next day I found out he was a supervisor at my lifeguarding job.

Soon after that he asked me out.

I should have turned him down. But I couldn’t.

Brandon helped slay the demons of my past while I tried to help him with his.

He promised to always protect me. To keep me safe.

I gave him my heart, thinking our relationship was solid.

But then the summer ended.

And everything fell apart.

Stay amazing,

Penelope
