your weekly pause 005: release control

May 17, 2026 7:46 pm

Happy Sunday, ,

I hope your week was great and that your weekend was restful.

I had to check myself a few times. While in a team meeting, I was inclined to tell a team member why I thought their work wasn't in line with what I thought it should be. At home, I was trying to control how my husband was organizing his clean clothes. And while getting my hair done, I attempted to tell the hairdresser, who had been doing this for years, how to complete the style.

Needless to say, I was out of line... operating from a space of control that was only adding unnecessary stress to my life. A life that is already full. Thankfully, I recognized my actions in every case and course corrected in every situation.

But this felt important, and I think you can relate. Moms can relate to stuff like this, especially over functioning moms who take pride in things being done "right." But what does "right" even mean? And does it matter if it leaves us worn down and out? Think about it...

The Pause:

What do you attempt to control but realize you can't? That is usually a sign that you need to release it. We are only called to handle what is ours — and while we (moms) have been conditioned to think it's all ours, it's not. I just want you to sit with that. No action needed if you aren't led to act.

My Recommendation:

Skincare. The weather is changing, so I absolutely recommend updating your skincare routine to match the warmer weather. Think lighter moisturizers, higher SPFs, more simplified routines, and gentler exfoliants. Of course, consult your dermatologist and/or esthetician first.

Ok sis. You know the vibes... take what you need, leave the rest. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love,

Patrice
