Hi ,

A warm welcome to our latest update! There's a chill in the air and we'd like you to be able to cosy up in the evening with a movie - so we’ve been busy creating some exciting new careers resources so you don’t need to!

Here are this month's additions to the Panjango Resource Bank…

🧟 NEW GAME: The Zombie Survival Game

Looking for an exciting hook of engagement for your careers lessons? Well, there aren't too many things more exciting for young people than zombies!

As it's the spooky season, we’re delighted to bring you... The Zombie Survival Game!

This is a fun, careers-themed team game that challenges students to use their knowledge and skills to survive against the zombie hordes as they learn about the more traditional but essential jobs that underpin our society.

Students play in teams solving challenges that will help save their clan from the zombie apocalypse by earning rewards to build their base and push the zombie horde back towards their opposing team!

The challenges place students into vital roles in society such as farmers, builders, tailors, woodcutters, doctors, explorers and more!

Simply print and play for an exciting careers game for your students to play either now, to link in with the spooky season, or at any time of year with the zombie theme sure to keep your students gripped.

The game folder includes everything including the game board, challenge cards, clan upgrade cards, Lesson PowerPoint, answer sheet and a Teacher Guide.

You can find all of our careers games in the Games folder here - including our two web-based games, Choices and Top 10s.

♻️ Green Careers Week

Green Careers Week makes a return this year between the 6th and 11th of November. It’s an initiative launched by National Careers Week, the UK Space Agency and STEM learning with the aim of promoting careers that protect the planet.

At Panjango, we believe that sustainability will become a key part of all jobs in the future as we work together to tackle the climate crisis.

So to support Green Careers Week, we’ve come up with three quick activities that highlight some green careers that are helping to deliver the changes we need, as well as introducing students to some of the keywords that students are likely to become increasingly important in the future world of work.

The Green Careers Crossword helps students to discover 15 different job roles that can have a positive environmental impact.

The Green Careers Wordsearch includes 16 words relating to green careers that can be extended to start a discussion about their meanings e.g. what is a circular economy and why is it important in the world of work? What is governance and why is it needed? etc.

Geoengineering Discussion Prompts look at technologies that are being researched to help address the climate crisis and encourage students to think of the merits of each technology and the future jobs each might create.

We also want to spotlight a range of resources already in the Resource Bank that can help support you to encourage discussion about careers that can have a positive impact on the planet including:

You can find a wide range of creative careers-themed activities and worksheets in the Activities folder here.

👩‍🏫 Careers

We’ve got another three careers to add to our ever-popular individual careers collection which are great for inspiring your learners to think about the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their careers of interest.

This month we’ve got a range of careers from across the work sectors including Geneticist, Astronaut and, the most difficult job of them all, Teacher!

📰 The Panjango Post

The Panjango Post is also back with its monthly update. In a month that has seen some heavy news headlines, we wanted to keep things light for your students and so have focussed on the 2030 FIFA World Cup Announcements and the RSPCA’s Adoptober initiative.

🔦 In The Spotlight

Finally, we just wanted to spotlight a few other resources that are particularly relevant at this time of year including:

> COP28 Climate Challenge to coincide with the next climate change conference to be held in Dubai between 30th Nov - 12th Dec

> Careers at Christmas KS3 version and KS2 version - contextualised challenges relating to a wide variety of jobs and the work they do each Christmas

> Advent Calendar - a fun, Christmas-themed careers challenge for each day of the advent calendar

> Santa Claus KS3 version and KS2 version - fun contextual challenges relating to the 'real' tasks that Santa must do each year to deliver presents to millions of children

As always, you can find our whole collection of more than 350 different careers games and resources in the Panjango Resource Bank folder here.

We hope that you find something that makes a difference to the young people in your school. As always, if you have any feedback, or you have any requests, we would love to hear from you!
