Hi ,
It's taken us a little longer than usual to get this latest update to you - but we're more than making up for it with our mega summer update!
We've uploaded a whopping 25 new files to the Resource Bank... and there will be plenty more coming your way over the next few weeks for you to build into your careers programme for the new academic year (or to use in any summer activities your school may be running).
Read on to find out more...
NEW Scheme of Work
Our new Explore, Experience, Thrive scheme of work will offer a structured career learning journey built around our existing games and resources - but mostly it will offer new, creative careers content to make your careers lessons the ones students enjoy most of all!
We've uploaded the first three lessons in this scheme so you can see the approach we're taking and the type of activities that will be on offer across the whole scheme. These initial lessons include:
- An Introduction to the World of Work
- Exploring Labour Market Information
- Life as an Adult
We have plenty more lessons drafted and currently in review so we will be uploading these over the coming days and weeks so that the full scheme is ready to use at the start of the new term.
To help with your planning, a selection of the upcoming lessons include:
- Connecting Learning to Life
- Exploring Career Paths
- Developing Skills for Life
- My Skills and Interests
- Solving Real Work Problems
- Finding my Purpose
- The Jobs of the Future
- Living a Healthy and Happy Life
- Money Matters
- The Big Budget
- My Career Dreams
- Planning for the Future
- and much more...
Our Explore, Experience, Thrive scheme will be primarily focused on KS3 - but will be differentiated so the majority of lessons can be delivered to KS2 and/or KS4 too.
All lessons will include a lesson plan, main powerpoint presentation and then additional worksheets, interactive resources and games to make each lesson straightforward for you to deliver - and as fun and engaging as possible :)
NEW Olympics Resources
The Olympics are starting in a couple of weeks so we've created some interactive resources to take the opportunity to combine student's excitement about the games with some career learning!
We have uploaded an interactive powerpoint and an accompanying work booklet for each of KS2, KS3 and KS4. These contain our usual mix of contextualised challenges exploring all the work that goes into making the Olympics a success.
These resources are perfect for either an end of term activity before the games start, a fun activity for any summer clubs your school may be running while the games are live, or to reflect on the games when students return in the new term.
I think these are some of the best resources we've produced so do try to check them out!
Other new resources
As always, we're continuing to grow the core bank of interactive resources too.
We've uploaded three new Careers resources (Antiques Dealer, I.T. Technician and Taxi Driver), a new Sector resource (Business and Finance) and a new Issues resource (Homelessness).
Next steps...
We'll be adding new Scheme lessons to the Resource Bank over the coming days so check back again to see the latest additions (new files are added at the bottom of the file list).
Otherwise, I'll send another update very soon to summarise the new additions.
As always, to access the files in the Resource Bank click on the link you received when you subscribed through Gumroad (if you search 'Gumroad' in your emails you should find it easily).
Let me know if you encounter any difficulties accessing the new files though and I'll be happy to help.
I hope you enjoy our new creations and, if I don't speak to you again beforehand, I hope you enjoy a well-earned rest whenever your term ends.
Kindest regards,
Jon Maiden
